What is the bucket method? Chipmunks are so cute. Almost as cute as bears. I can't afford cute.

If I could do bee bee gun I would but my yard is not huge and neighbors are out in their yards. I'd get busted.

Forget the bb gun, at least on black squirrels. I popped a bunch with 22 shorts. They would go 3 feet into the air, roll over a few times and take off. I switched to long rifle hollow points and it was game over. The critters would still launch into the air, but hit the ground stone dead with exploded heads. Sorry about the graphics for the squeamish, but I do not know a soft way to put it. The bucket trap gets set up today for the chipmunks.

J Cleveland said in his post but I'll say again. Get a bucket, fill water to about 3 inches from top. I float sunflower seeds so it looks solid. Put a board up to the lip of bucket with peanut butter dots or seeds leading up to top of bucket. They go up eating as they go, get to top and go for what's in the bucket. Everlasting swim.

We used to have a severe over population of squirrels. I took 36 out of circulation in 6 weeks.

Thanks guys. We don’t have the problem during the summer months but I’ll try these tricks to get rid of them in the fall. I’m a little skeptical of the poison cause I don’t want a nest of rotten squirrels in my boat. I’ve got some time to think about it but I’ll keep u posted. Thanks again for the help.

Try dryer sheets for cloths dryers , the stronger the sent the better .l leave a car and a truck in my garage in ct for the winter for 6 months and a car in the driveway . Put them all over in the vehicles and air vents under hood on top of the tires held down by small stones . Has worked great for years on mice and chipmunks. We do not have ground squirrels .

Poisoned critters go for water, they won't drop tits up in the boat immediately !
No worry !

So sorry for your trouble, I had a john boat kelpt in my garage with a black walnut tree just outside. To my unknowing they found my boat for storage as well under the sub-floor. What a fricking mess to remove all the walnuts. Needless to say the walnut tree lost.

Here would be my solution. First, shot and kill some of the little bastards. Then, skin them out in the open in plain sight of any other squirrels. Then, fire up the BBQ and cook the squirrel on the charcoal grill. Eat him slowly and with gusto right there in plain sight.

Then later, if still a problem, repeat the above process until they quit, or you have eaten all the family! Just Sayin...RJS

Love your way of thinking Mr Samples. 🇺🇸😂👍

Spring is here and we are uncovering our boats for the first time since Thanksgiving and seeing the squirrel damage. They eat right through 5/8 solid fiberglass like it’s nothing. Some guys are finding that the squirrels have chewed up wiring harnesses and upholstery. Haven’t heard of them damaging fuel tanks YET but. Question is has anyone run into this in ur area and how do you keep them out. One guy put bags of moth balls in his boat and when he uncovered the bags were gone. The critters took them off the boat cause they didn’t like the smell. All of the boats are in covered slips lifted 3-5 feet out of the water. They won’t go in our traps anymore so that’s not working and it’s in a townhouse community in a cove so shooting them is not ready an option. Please let me know if you’ve been successful with a treatment. Has anybody tried an electronic device this gives a high pitch to deter these tree rats?

My brother-in-law uses Irish Spring soap to keep mice out of his wheat trucks over the winter. Don't know if it will work with fuzzy rats
