Why would you keep it? Not going to eat it i would think. So why kill it.

Forty minutes of wrestling that big ol' beast, is more than I want to do, cut the line, the same as you do with a shark.

I would of let Mr. Catfish go free for one reason doubt if I could put it in the back of the pickup. But it is his fish and he has the right to keep it. He looks like a old fishermen so I am sure the meat will not go to waste. I find it interesting that people think killing a great big buck or elk and putting its head on the wall is great but keeping a bass or big fish is wrong. I am glad he caught it and hope he enjoys many meals from it. Who am I to judge him.

This caught this 131lb blue catfish using 30lb test line. Jackson Mississippi. I know he fought for a while. The guy had to know what he was doing.

I would have took a picture and cut that thing loose. Now I’m not an expert and anybody can tell me if I’m wrong, but I highly doubt the meat on that thing isn’t wormy or really coarse .

I have a pretty strong catfish rod and reel with 30lb test and pretty sure it would snap it, but I watched an older black lady pull in an 80 pound flat head using a Zebco 404 outfit sitting on the rocky bank of Lake Arrowhead in the state park. She needed help getting it in. The 100lbs Flathead I caught on my jugline last Summer pulled the jug right out of my hand and drug the weights like they were bubbles, fought her alone let it drag my 16 ft. heavy Sylvania glass around to tire it out, his head barely fit into my net and nearly broke my back to hoss it into my boat. That 131-pound blue is one hell of a fish! I don't deliberately go after monster fish, they're not fit to eat and probably won't survive being out of the water that long. Next monster cat I catch, I'll take pictures, weight it and return it for another day.
