Well, inflation has been the bogie man, and even worse now under present administration, but to the original question about prices of new vs used boats, there is no question about the more reasonable prices of used boats.

The biggest problem is as buyer, are you willing to do the due dilligence to find and check out a rig to determine if it is a seaworthy craft and one you would be willing to own?

There are thousands of boat owners who are willing to dump their boats, at least in the Gulf Coast area, (I cannot speak of other areas) so, you can find a suitable rig, particularly in the fall and end of fishing season (for most) if you are willing to put in the search time. Just Sayin....RJS

Kerry those little bodies of water are great. Very peaceful n relaxing. Enough crazy on the highway. Don't feel like dealing with it in the water 👍👍

Yep I bought a Lake Cabin in Texas for $5,500 cash in 1984 with two rooms. Spent 30k in materials and built a 5k square ft 5k bedroom house remodeled inside and out, plus 6k on my pier in 1995. I sold it in 2000 for $250k and moved to NC where I live now. I had 7 acres of water front..you can't buy that acreage alone here, especially lake front property for what I put into that home. They $20,000 for an RV plot.

Passing bye back in late 60's early 70's at Deep Creek lake MD. You could buy a lot with n A frame on it for $25,000. Not lake front side of the road but many lake view. Now $25K wouldn't buy enough ground for a dog house. Was a sign I'd drive pass on the road in Deep Creek lake MD best kept secret. Sign is long gone along with the serenity that once was Deep Creek lake. Big money found n ruined the place. Once a quite layed back area is now a madhouse on the roads n the lake 😡😡

I liking my Bonafide SS127 more and more. The price for a new bass boat is completely outrageous but man I would love to own one.

TexasWomack: Congratulations! Your rig is just the 'cat's meow!' The bigger they are, the more expensive to buy and to operate! Just think, a big catfish would just tow you around! What fun!

Isn't Prosper 30 or 40 miles east of Denton? My wife taught there for a year while I was finishing up at UNT. I graduated in June 1957. Just Sayin...RJS

Texas. I've seen some nice yaks n yours in a nice one. 6 rods n a nice transporter. I've looked at yaks but the nice ones are pricey. If I got one I'd need a t-motor. Hands shoulders n one knee not the best. I'll stick with my pond boat. Doesn't paddle as easy as a yak or canoe but doable. T-motor paddle or push pole all work. I can also stand n move around. Just need a small trailer now. Getting a little harder to drag it up in the truck even with ramps. 👍

Nice Yak T W. Had a Bonafide 2 years back and really miss it especially the raised seat. Now have a pedal drive yak but no where as nice as the Bonafide. You did well.

Personally,it’s overpriced,if you know how to fish, you’ll catch off of a 50k boat or a $50 boat,if you have a decent $$ amount to spend,I’d look at the used market, you can get a good boat with low hours and way more features than you’d afford on a new one, state of the art? Maybe not,but I have a 1988 Boston Whaler 130 Sport that I restored, catch fish just fine out of it,get the most bang for your buck

Well where's the pic of the 17K boat?

So sorry, but I did not take a photo. It was only after returning home that I realized I took very few photos that day. It was a good looking boat. I would love to own it. It seemed like it was just last year that the entry-level boat at Bass Pro was $15,000. It’s jumped a lot in the last year but it’s a nice boat.

Yes Sir Prosper is just east of Denton.
I have a boat already.
It’s a Malibu VLX wakeboard boat.
Not the kind of boat to fish off of.
I would like to sell it and trade it for a bass boat but my wife isn’t ready to part with the Malibu just yet. I’m really enjoying my kayak at this point but who know what the future holds. I would still put a $60,000 limit on a bass boat.

I might add a trolling motor to my SS127 when I don’t enjoy paddling anymore but for now I’m digging it.

Thanks Brother
Yeah the Bonafide SS127 is a lot of bang for the buck. They now have a Bonafide PD127 pedal drive that is a real beauty.

I have two boats here in the storage area at home. Neither was new when I bought them. The 18ft deep V was outfitted Just about perfect when I bought it. Last summer I added a 15.5 ft skiff and set it for for catfishing. Have roughly $7,000 in the pair and will match them against the way to high priced new rigs.
Heck, in 1981 I bought 5 acres in the country with this darn good house for half what they want for a new bass boat.

I think the Classic was $9995 in 2018 when I bought my Superguide 16. Mine was about 14k. $135/mo probably for the rest of my life. Lol. But it was new, reliable, and good size for wife and me. 50hp gets around plenty fast. It’s a good deal for Social Security life.
