I paid $6,500 for a fully loaded 16 foot Deep V unsinkable Bass Tracker in 1991 with two fishing finder's and depth finder..huge live wells with a 60hp fuel injected outboard. Handled like dream.. I bought an 1987 Sylvania with a 50hp for $1,800 last year..well maintained fully loaded. I catch fish, the boat just gets me to them. I looked at Bass Pro too. They can keep $22k for flat bottom jon boat.

1991 Chevy 1/2ton pickup starting @$12,000
2022 Chevy 1/2ton pickup starting @$33,800
Roughly 3X the price, same as the boats. It's called inflation.

And that is what the government uses to balance the books.. If the dollar is worth less this year than last, that amount of debt disappears.

It's too bad my books don't balance that way.

I know what it's called but we're a household full of professional retired craftsmen turning older truck's and boat's that'll outlast the newer machines.

Fred, I was leaning towards robbery but I guess inflation sounds Nicer!
Now that I wrote it down it’s got me thinking. Say you had to defend yourself from an Inflater, beat him silly or worse. What you think the jury would say? Haha.

I'm the same way Passingbye. I buy my full size SUVS 10yrs old, for 1/3 the original price. I bought my aluminum boat new in '89 and my outboard new in '90. I also have a 1971 Browning Trihull with the original 135 Merc.
What I was trying to point out is that it's not Evil Boat Companies, ripping people off, because EVERYTHING is too expensive these days. Gas, food, medicine, housing, whatever you look at, has at least tripled since the '70s/'80s. When I started working,in the '70s, I made $2.85 hr, and when I retired last week, I was making over $40.00. I presume that the same goes for guys who build cars, boats, homes, and anything else in this country. Labor and material costs determine the cost of any product. Boats are no different.

I don't know Lip, but you would definitely need a better lawyer than me, in court with you. LOL

I am also retired and on a limited income. I bought a used 14-foot aluminum boat with a trailer, a 9 hp motor, and a trolling motor for $2500. It is not pretty but it gets me where I want to go. We catch fish sometimes more than the very expensive boats around us. I would like a better boat but I am happy with what I have. I would have to have a LOT of money $$$$$ to spend $90,000+ on a boat.

Yep! Cost of goods. Only thing is that the cost of goods goes up faster than wages unless you’re in a Union… I agree 💯

Well if I can get a real jury of my peers, I’m dancing out of that court room, maybe with a metal or a trophy or something! 😂

Yep I bought a Lake Cabin in Texas for $5,500 cash in 1984 with two rooms. Spent 30k in materials and built a 5k square ft 5k bedroom house remodeled inside and out, plus 6k on my pier in 1995. I sold it in 2000 for $250k and moved to NC where I live now. I had 7 acres of water front..you can't buy that acreage alone here, especially lake front property for what I put into that home. They $20,000 for an RV plot.
