You might check into a Hyundai. Pretty indestructible. And 10yr, 100,000 mile warranty. And great mileage…🐟on

We’re on our second Subaru. Had a legacy AWD with 347,000 miles on it when it broke the original timing belt. Had it fixed and gave it to some friends and they’re still driving it and getting 32 mpg. Our current Subaru is an Outback with 180,000 miles on it and I replaced the catalytic converters myself for $147.00 and that’s all we’ve ever done to it. The Outback gets a, consistent, 26 mpg And it’ll go dang near anywhere. I’m a firm believer in American made but there’s really no such thing any more. We love our Subarus. Very dependable, very fuel efficient and very comfortable to drive and ride in plus lots of room. When someone mentions “suburu is just a fad” they failed to mention it’s been a fad for 50 years in the United States.

All the Oregonian youngsters been making them a fad. For about 20. When the timing belt breaks the engine is destroyed. Look up how many Suburu’s were sold in US in 1972…. 1999… 2002. Google will provide the information just fine.

My wife drives a CRV and loves it. Says when we get to point that we need to replace it she wants another. I drive a Chevy Equinox the seats are a little bigger and for me it is more comfortable. Also the Chevy gets better gas mileage

We have an inherited 2010 CR-V with 65k miles. No issues, but I'll agree that the gas mileage is subpar. Low twenties, which to me is terrible for what it is. Looks like the recent ones average in the high twenties, so that's great if you're shopping newer. Like another suggested here, I too would compare it to the RAV4 4 and Subaru.

My wife had a Prius that was a very good car. Ran great, always started, and got 45 mpg on the hwy. only had to change the headlight bulb on each side on time. She traded it in because of rust around the top of the windshield. She took a Mercedes CLA 250 in trade. She can’t drive it around the block without having some sensor light come on! She got angry with me because I called it a POS. I quit calling it bad names, now she’s the one that’s calling it a POS! Warning! Stay as far away as you can from Mercedes

When I bought this "trucklette" Hyundai a few months ago I traded Marilyn's 2017 CRV in on it. Although I'm happy enough with the Hyundai I get constant reminders from Marilyn she really misses her Honda. I think that was our 4th or 5th Honda in a row. And I'll admit too that the CRV was a very nice car. If it had been 4WD or AWD I probably would have kept it and had a junker truck as a 2nd vehicle. The one and only gripe I've ever had with any Honda was that they need to work on keeping road noise out of the cabin. I'd offer my 100% endorsement and MK would likely double that. Whatever you do, keep Mama happy and the rest will work out fine.

My wife and I have picked the last two of Her vehicles CRV’s. Her sister had a RAV4 and she liked it, but it did not get anywhere near as good a mileage as the 1st CRV 05’ was getting. Our newest one is a 2017 and on the Hyway gets 33 to 35mpg. I believe they both handle great and both are consumer reports Best Buy’s.

I'm on my 3rd Outback - obviously I like the car; it's the most comfortable road car I've ever owned. Newest is a 2021 which replaced a rear end totaled 2018 (nobody hurt). 1st was a 2010. Never been stuck in any of them despite trying, great mileage, timing belt change req. at 105k, 2021 oil change interval of 6k using only synthetic oil, fuel fill is irritatingly on the right side, roomier than the other choices which I tried out before buying the 2010.

The Toyota site compares the RAV4 to the competition. I buy American but if I was going there I’d get the RAV4. Love the cargo area. Have friends that swear by them. 300,000 miles is common. Make sure it’s a 4 door or the doors will be too big.

From a safety standpoint, I like to have something substantial around me.

Funny you said that Tony , about the Cabin noise, yesterday I was talking to my best high school friend ,and he mentioned the same thing about theirs. Although he also added it helps when his wife talks too much !👍🤣

Check out the Toyota Venza hybrid fly. A little fancier than the rav but still easy in and out and 40 mpg. Just bought one for the wife and she loves it.
