That's why I do fishing trips early in the day. I leave when most of the goof balls are coming out to go wakeboarding and tubing. Let these crazy nuts have the water during the middle of the day. I will go fishing in the evenings when 75% are going home. I refuse to do fishing guide trips on some lakes mid day. I have had too many close calls with morons on the water. I go to a lake to fish not tubing or wakeboarding. If you want to surf find a ocean or go to Lake Superior. Bring your heated suit as the water does not get over 55º even in August. The best waves are in November through the first of the year.
As for the gun issue, this country needs to go back to death penalty. Because some knuckleheads thinks they own the road, and getting to their job before you. does not equal to shootings. I drove 170 miles each day when working full time. Only once did I have an issue of road rage, that cops were called. no guns. My guns are for hunting and home defense, 28 years of military service. My grandfather told me many years, "There is nothing on this earth worth going to jail or losing your freedom for a single day for." Is it that important? Find if you what to go first to think you're going to catch the first? HA HA. Seen that before.

Jigg you must be lucky enough to have a place you can park at night to fish n feel safe doing it. The lives of my family n myself are worth defending. Former military I'm guessing you went to places to defend strangers. Why should we not be allowed to defend ourselves in our country. No I'm not affiliated with any group other than the Marine corps. Government has no problem sending troops to fight n die for others. Still they want to deny us the right to defend ourselves. I don't go looking for trouble but if backed in a corner I can't get out of guess it'll get ugly. What you do if every in that situation if entirely up to you. Hope neither of us ever find out

Normalization???? I don’t think that it will happen in our time, Griz. I really think that it’s beyond repair as far as crime. Instead of hiring law enforcement, they’re firing them. The criminals have no fear of the law. And the cops have so many restrictions these days that the thugs basically get away with murder(literally)….🐟on

Dave I don't either. Honestly why be in law enforcement anymore. Officer shoots a bad guy shooting at him n court let's relatives file a lawsuit. Where is that right. City I lived in is getting crazy. No respect for law at all. They have a big problem with clowns on dirt bikes n atv's. They know police won't pursue them. Had a pic in the paper a few weeks ago. About 8 of them a girl in the atv had a small child sitting in front of her. They wave at the Camaras at the intersection. Have caused multiple wrecks. Last time I went to Sam's club there I saw one of them. No fear no respect. The other day one was in the sidewalk. Officer drove on side walk to block him now he's in trouble. Always easy to say what we do when we're not in the same situation. Arm chair quarterbacks. Adrenaline n fear puts you mind in a gear all the training in the world can't replicate. Have a good day brother stay safe 👍👍

That Mr. Dave is a valid question. You're much more vulnerable in the open. Oh well like I said before we have to do what feels right for us. 👍

I can see everyone’s point in this discussion. I was taught to shoot to terminate the threat, not scare, not injure, terminate. The same with self defense and home defense. That is why I don’t expose myself to threatening situations.

I too have backup. Sig Sauer is always with me, and i trust him. Of course Bill Ruger is on board most of the time. We always want to do what is right, and if we do see something that should change we do mention it. Maybe explain to those that choose to block the ramp, to get ready to launch, how it should be done. Maybe they don't know, and since no one told them, they might think it's OK.

I can not say I am really surprised at so many people bragging about their side arms and threatening harm just by doing so. If you tell people you have a concealed weapon, from a practical view, it is no longer concealed. This is true even in this blog. Just so you know, if you are in the field and in an argument, telling someone you are packing is interpreted by the court as a deadly threat. Think about it. If you can get out of any situation unharmed, or even lightly harmed, if you were not carrying a weapon, and you deliberately let your opponent know you are carrying even with a CPL, then you are likely guilty of felony assault. If you do have to use the weapon, surprise is your best weapon. If your opponent knows you have a weapon, you have lost your advantage. Regardless of what outfits like the NRA (I am a member)say about your rights, when you walk through that court room door, you are already behind, as nearly all courts lean toward prosecution of gun users. When you go fishing, go with the intent of having fun, and helping others do the same, not fighting, or just stay home brag and on the internet about how tough you are and how big your gun is. This is not directed to anyone or group in particular on this post, but if the shoe fits, it is time to rethink why you got that CPL in the first place. Yes, I am a retired Alaska police officer with a masters in criminal law.

Here in Minnesota, not many people are going to make a boat ramp, The Modern OK Corral. As most people that fish after dark, are also hunters and have more fire power then the police force. Many of the ramps also have lights, some even have cameras that go to local police stations.

I don't believe the court when it comes to coming down hard on criminals n firearms. Maybe some places. Often I see when weapons charges are first thing to go in a plea deal. Back in the 60's courts was going to seriously punish cooks with firearms. The guy that stuck a revolver in my face n robbed the store got caught shortly after the incident. Went to trial got 10 yrs. Wrote letter to the judge saying how sorry he was. Judge cut sentence to 6 n eligible for parole in 3. Not exactly severely punished. I'm not bragging. I make sure mine carry isn't seen. As stated element of surprise. 👍 As for real bragging most guys I've run into that need to do that can't back it up.
