I agree but! Not what I described. Nickle diameter. Plastic. Like a mushroom with the line through it.

I’ve never seen or heard anything about something like that!?🧐

Wish all these fancy things would catch fish as easy as they catch us fishermen.

Sounds like the WiggleFin action disc. They come in 3 sizes. They also offer an adjustable stop to move the disc closer or further from the lure. I use these trolling flies. They are absolutely awesome. Who'd of thought $.05 worth of plastic could enhance a fly action. I haven't tried the with anything else yet but they make the flies come alive. I'll probably try the larger size on anchovy for salmon sometime.

I highly recommend!

The line dancer is a hook that mounts on your rod. You put your line in the hook after casting. It changes the speed of your retrive with every revolution of the rotor/bail. Even if you crank at a steady speed, when the bail rotates down , the line speeds up and when the bail comes up, the line slows down. If you have a 5:1 ratio, your lure will speed up and slow down 5 times each, with each full turn of the handle. When you get a bite, or are ready to cast again, unhook the line from the hook. You can make one with some soft wire, taped to your rod.
Oh yeah, it only works with spinning reels.

I wonder if the idea came from a beer bottle cap?

It's an action disc that makes noise and dances above our flies that we troll with

Go to "Mack's Lures". On the internet. They make something like you are describing as well as a similar thing that looks like a jerk bait bill that slides on the line. The bill one is called a Mack's wiggle hoochie bill. Both were designed for kokanee fishing, but like most fishing gear expand to other fish. They are outstanding. I use the bill one on almost any large fly I troll. The mushroom shaped one gives a more erratic movement, than the bill. Just be sure the lure or a dodger/flasher do not fight each other and ruin the movement of each. I highly recommend both the bill and mushroom shaped pieces. I just use clear, but they are available in several colors. I recommend you order the hard copy catalog (free) and check out all their gear. Don't overlook the plastic smile blades. They are near weightless and spin at a very very slow speed as well as fast speed. Good luck

I use a Wiggle Fin when I troll for trout. I use it with flies, grubs, Gulp minnows...anytime I want to impart action on my lure. They are also called Action Discs. Try Cal Kellogg (Fish ,Hunt , Shoot Productions) on You Tube. Or, Google.

Was it like this?

Hi OZ, funny you bring up the question. Vacationing in Fla right now and was at the HUGE Cabela's in Tampa looking to get a new rod for LM fishing. In talking with salesman about lures, he asked if ever used an Umbrella rig. Never heard of it so he showed me and said it does work and he has even caught in rare cases, two at one time. Originally a variation of it was used somewhere on the planet and had like 20 hooks. It was so effective in catching fish, they either had to ban it or reduce dramatically the number of hooks. The one he showed me had 5 hook locations but said only allowed to bait/lure with hook, 3 in Fla. The other two you place a non hook plastic bait. His experience was to bait the bottom two and the one in the middle. The fish seem to concentrate on the lower baits. The bass apparently see this as a school of minnows and usually it is the larger fish that go for it. Because it is heavy with all the elements, casting is different and need to be careful in casting. Will probably give it a try when I get back to Pa. and fish from a boat since I see needing open water so no immediate snags around weeds. Can't see using in many places if fishing from shore. Hope this helps and let us know if have any success in its use.
