From what they tell me, they start at different depths and all different jigs until they figure out what depth and color they get the most bites on. Then change all lines to that depth and color. But, I'm not much of a crappie fisherman.

ROCKfish???? LOL! If I catch it thats probably what it is. Did I spell it wrong? Never claimed to be a spelling wizard either. If the phone don't underline it then it must be right.

Not ROCKfish but I did catch a turtle on a Shadrap once. Hooked it the back leg. Guess my line got over him somehow and when I felt it I set the hook. You ever try to get a lure out of a turtles leg? You have to be real careful because he ain't gonna hold his leg still and that other treble hook is just looking for something else to get.

Well here in western North Carolina I don’t quit till about 10-15 deg. Reel will freeze quit there about. Rapala count down about 4in silver &black will stir up a big brown.

Never where I live and fish. October it just gets better. When the lake freezes over we just drill holes and fish differently.

I have caught fish at out side temp 19 with a silver buddy 1/2 oz in clear water . Make long cast and medium to fast retrieve , north Georgia , good luck . might work for you.

I was in a bass tournament on Toledo Bend Reservoir in Jan., about 18-20 degrees, a few years ago. We through everything we had in our boxes and couldn’t hit a lick. I tied on a black and yellow H&H double blade spinner bait. My buddy I was with was a semi-pro bass fisherman from Missouri. When he saw what I was using, he busted a gut laughing. That was until I hung into a nice bass twice in a row. Then, it, killed him to ask me, if I had anymore. I did, but I told him no, until I caught another nice bass. Then I gave him one and we ended up catching enough to come in first place. But, we didn’t win because the butthead got the check in time wrong and we were late. All day, freezing our butts off, lines freezing up, and he’s late. No wonder he wasn’t a pro yet. Never fished another tournament with him.

We are fortunate in Alabama that we can fish all year. Just have to wear layers. Battery heated vest has really made it nice. Sound crazy but rain suits help in cold weather because it stops the wind from going to your bones. Crankbaits especially Shad raps work great along with spinnerbaits. Another crazy is to use newspaper or even Walmart bags in side the winter suits. Also learned to sleep in and go a little later in the day when the sun warms up the air.

For me fishing always ends when it gets cold and I’ll be sitting 15 feet closer to God! Fishing starts not long after hunting season ends.
