Hey fellow (Midwest) fishermen. I've noticed it's getting much harder to get a bite since it's cooled down into the 40s and 50s (30s in the morning). Is there a temp where you just stop fishing? Can you catch fish when it's this cold? I haven't even seen any fish around the banks lately. Also, I know ice fishing exists, but that's not what I'm talking about.
Thanks all.

I’m not sure if it’s harder to fish when it gets colder, I think you just need to switch it up. That being said I’ve never had memorable fishing trips when it gets cold

I thought when it was cold the fish slow down and become lethargic bc they're cold blooded. Right?

Seriously? Fish will bite when air temp is like 35 degrees?

Fish live in water. Not trying to be a smartass but why would they care about ambient air temp? Fish until it's too cold for you. That's how we do it in Indiana. I personally don't care for ice fishing so when the water freezes over I quit fishing till it thaws.
For me, fishing season will end when they start filling in my grave!

I catch some of my best crappie when I spend half my time in the truck getting warm.
Over the years I've had many memorable fishing trips in the cold. Just gotta dress for it and stay dry.

Patent a process, you'll be rich in no time.
There are some here already.
Figures. I had an idea for a pen one time. Some guy named Bic beat me to it.
