Figures. I had an idea for a pen one time. Some guy named Bic beat me to it.

Had one for a lighter but it flickered out too.

The fishing season never ends, just change up or slow up your presentation. Consider ice fishing....

I was fishing for whitefish in February on the Bighole River in Montana. Floated a helgrammite under the bank ice and caught a 4# one. I hadn't known til then that whitefish aren't white in the winter. They changed to a golden color with lots of red spots and their mouths got waaay bigger.

There is no end to fishing season. The water temp is the key. Being cold blooded a fish's metabolism slows down. Bass don't eat as much but they still have to eat. And they change their habitat. They usually move to deeper water. They tell me that the water is warmer down deep but I don't know about that. Switch to smaller baits, slow your presentations, and fish deep structure. You have basically put the bait right in front of them to get them to bite. I fish a 4" rigged "do nothing" worm Carolina rigged in 15 to 25 feet of water off points and stream beds.

Some of the coldest times I can remember while fishing was also the best fishing for steelhead. As long as the line is not freezing to the guides I'm good.

Some guys change their quarry. They switch from bass fishing to crappie fishing here in the deep South. They troll for them. I never quite figured that out. I'm always fishing either too fast or too slow, too shallow or too deep, wrong color jigs, or something. But, it's still FISHIN'. 😃
