Fell off a horse and landed on a rock sticking out of the ground. Broke every rib on one side, crushed my chest in. I couldn’t breathe for 6 weeks.

Now that makes me feel like gasping didn't even work. Just a slow in and out to be thankful you were still breathing. Dang that had to hurt.

Hey Ronnie glad to see you on the stage. Must be coming on radiation time now that you are up. Is Chemo therapy still happening?

Me also Bob. I had waded out to that rock many times. Water just a bit deeper n faster. Just wasn't my time brother. That section of the river has claimed many lives. At people that was careless n thought can't happened to me. Flytier is familiar with the section at Harpers Ferry. If I had been a non swimmer that probably would have been my last day. The brain freeze was unbelievable 🥶🥶

Family was at the drive-in theater I was 8 or so. I took off running down front to swing on the swings before the movie started. Got hit by a Volkswagen bug. the guy got it stopped before the tire ran over my head. My dad seen it all and the guy driving the bug kept apologizing to my dad. Dad told him it wasn't his fault he seen it all. Dad said boy if you wanna live very long you had better pay attention. Sometimes it seems I'm still trying to learn that🤪 I miss the old man

As long as you are careful and watch where you're going its a beautiful stretch off water to fish. Lots of cuts in bedrock and out in the middle there's one spot where its real deep and the water runs hot and heavy through there. That last rock before the quiet water is where I caught my 5# smallie.

Hi FT. I luv that section. Biggest carp n channel catfish came from near the railroad Bridge. It's a big old rock with a big hole out in front. Cats luvd it. If I go there again n wade I will wear pfd I started fish there in late 60,s many over night trips there. Fish on a stick done over n open flame 🔥 It was fun brother

I was swimming at the beach once, horsing around in heavy surf. A big 'sneaker' got me and I wasn't ready for it. I was tumbled and turned, over and over. It was like being in a giant Maytag. Finally, stopped tumbling and with my lungs about to burst I'm swimming hard up for the surface. I was getting kind of desperate, when I took another hard stroke with my hand reaching up ahead of me and I grabbed ...a handful of sand! VERTIGO, I didn't know which way was up! I turned over to push off the bottom but there was still some turbulence and my feet hit NOTHING! Because of all the churning, there were a lot of bubbles in the water and I found my way to the top by following the larger ones.

But the 'breath' event that really sticks in my mind was in 1969 when I was watching the Apollo 11 mission live. Neil Armstrong was flying over the moon looking for a landing spot and we were all paying attention to his remaining fuel. There was a long silence and Neil finally said "The Eagle has landed." About then, it dawned on me that I hadn't taken a breath for quite awhile.
