You are welcome fuzzy, and no worries about the learning. We all did the same thing when we started out on here.

Looking for surf/shore fishing advise in and around Ft Myers. Moved South from Longboat Key where Sand Fleas were plentiful and a common bait. Been raking the beaches here (Ft Myers) for fleas, without much luck. I'm a catch and eat guy. Any advise would be appreciated.
I never had much luck finding sand fleas in the Ft. Myers area. I've had much better success catching live bait with a castnet there. The Sanibel pier has been a pretty good spot for both bait and fishing and I would check out Blind Pass before sunrise. You can also try Sanibel Rocks or Bowmans Beach.

Great info for me, as has all the other help getting me started here in Ft Myers! Thanks.

Berkley makes both sand worms and sand crabs in artificial. Both work. Get the 6 inch worms and break em in half.
Gulp makes a mole crab bait as well. If you can't dig them you could try the artificial. I know the pompano will love them, so will the whiting ( or whatever they call them in your area)
Like spirit, I use Berkley gulp alive sand worms. I use the 2 inch camo color and thread one on a hook just like it was a real worm. If in the surf, I let it do its own thing. If off a dock, I jig it slowly on the bottom. If off a no surf beach, I fish it like a Texas rig. I fish two hooks tied to the main line about 10 inches apart and a snap swivel on the bottom another 8 inches down. I can then quickly change weights as needed. That has been a killer rig for most things that swim from Mexico to Alaska inclusive. I have not tried it in Florida, but if I were going there I would try that with Gulp worm on the bottom hook and a shrimp on the upper hook. I might consider a leader on the upper hook if using a live shrimp.

Sounds like as good of name as any. I did not know it had a name, I just call it a double fineness it rig. Here in Washington, I put the sand worm on bottom and a 4 inch chartruce gulp mullet on the upper hook. Killer fir sand dabs, sole and rock fish. Good luck.
Hose your gear down real well afterwards. Salt is hell on reels especially.

Have you tried fish bites..they come in sand flea (gray/orange) and shrimp (pink)….they are my first choice while trying to figure out what else is being used..

Wow-Thanks.
I use the same rig in Jersey shore. Single hook sometimes, some double. Use it NC as well.
