Freshwater guy converting to saltwater.
Looking for surf/shore fishing advise in and around Ft Myers. Moved South from Longboat Key where Sand Fleas were plentiful and a common bait. Been raking the beaches here (Ft Myers) for fleas, without much luck. I'm a catch and eat guy. Any advise would be appreciated.

I understand the need for natural bait, have you considered the use of
either live or fresh dead shrimp? Just Sayin...RJS
Yes I have. Thanks. Just experiencing a humbling learning curve.
They gotta be eatin something. I'd sure be trying to figure out what that is and use some of that. Shrimp or squid is usually good, but they're probably not available in the surf. Check out your local bait or tackle shop and those people will most likely let you know. Welcome to the Stage fuzzy. Let us know how you do?
Will do-I've got plenty of time work on it. Thanks

From my experience surf fishing in Jersey, and im sure it’s probably gonna be different in FLA but i have the most success with both bloodworms cut up into small pieces or shredder or green crabs ( even blue point in a pinch) cut into quarters . Seems like everything in the surf eats one or both.
Berkley makes both sand worms and sand crabs in artificial. Both work. Get the 6 inch worms and break em in half.
ok-Pro Cure is on the list! Thanks.
Wow-lots of good suggestions! Thanks

Just to clarify Fuzzy…put pro cure on artificials…not on actual shrimp.

Got it!
Fuzzy, the diesel Z man artificial baits have a slit in them so the gel last longer. Other artificial lures just rub it on.
