Sorry to hear that Andy. GOOD fishing buddies are hard to find. We're still hanging in there. Got the snow n ice last night. I took my leaf blower out n blew snow off driveway before the freezing rain n sleet hit. Fuel cap broke on snowblower n nobody had one. Neighbor had his snow blower out but the thick ice layer was giving him a fit. I used a shovel took my time. Helps me get in shape for spring. You have a grandson to keep you company brother. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ท

Why should I switch over to Baitcasters????? (Or should I???)

It may be best to use what you are most comfortable with, there are advantages and disadvantages to each. I use both at different times with different lures.

If you are MUCH MORE comfortable with a spinning reel then I would stay with it. Every couple of years I get a urge to try a baitcaster, that's when I remember why I stay with spinning tackle.

Xactly! Maybe if I practiced with the baitcaster more Iโ€™d get back to using it. Nah! Iโ€™m happier with my spinning reels.

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. Always a kid to donate it to Hack. Fishing is supposed to be fun. That's why I quit fishing tournaments. Was no longer fun. When you come off the water feeling like you just left work it sucks. Quit tournaments n retired. I'm good now ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ท

Thatโ€™s why I quit Bass clubs and tournaments Grizz. I did it for several years but when it started feeling like a job and I was starting to feel like quitting fishing, I dropped it like a hot potato.

I know what you mean Hack. I enjoyed the competition till one guy decided he was lord n master. He wanted to pick everywhere we went. If he fished In your boat he'd zing one past you ear trying to fish front of boat. Fish with him n he'd angle boat to get the best cast. Wasn't any money involved. Just his ego. He was biggest one in club but he couldn't handle losing. ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ

That wasnโ€™t the problem with me. I fished in the winter in the teens and the summer in triple digits. We fished a lake Iโ€™d never caught any decent fish out of one summer and it was hot ๐Ÿฅต. The lake was Lake Livingston in East Texas. I was getting burned out with the bass club but we actually won that tournament. I just didnโ€™t want to do it anymore so I quit. It sure was nice to be able to go and quit fishing when I wanted to and not have to worry about a weigh in time.

It makes me feel like Iโ€™m a pioneer when Iโ€™m out fishing by myself with nothing around me except critters and the water and forest.

If youโ€™re catching bass you shouldnโ€™t change what youโ€™re doing. I use a baitcaster but Iโ€™ve done it a long time. I use a medium heavy rod and basically shoot at my target. It takes some practice to master that. Iโ€™d say stick with what youโ€™re doing unless you just want to practice and get good doing something different.
