My hands broke out this past season after fishing a body of water, was just wondering if this is why you wear them?

Ya I never wear gloves except ice fishing when I can
I wear them for sun protection
They say that the fish can smell parts per billion and people wear the gloves to keep from getting there sent on the bait thus keeping the fish from biting. When I started salmon fishing I was fishing around a couple of old guys, one said to me that he had been fishing there for 45 years. They were putting the salmon eggs on there hooks with out gloves on and always caught fish. I personally don't think it matters much. Some guys might wear gloves because the egg cure is very messy and they don't want to get it on there hands. But I think most don't want to contaminate the bait with there sent.

Same here. Mine are fingerless
I wear the half finger gloves so that won't keep my fingers off the bait. I just use em for uv protection. I wear all uv clothing now days

The only time I'm wearing gloves while fishing, is if (either) I'm engaged in picking/heading shrimp or shucking scallops or butchering fish, or; hauling back a BIG net, then; while "picking" said "BIG net"... Otherwise, unless it's just too cold NOT TO have gloves on; then "Plan-A" = I'll NOT be wearing gloves. Gloves have a tendency to "be fumbly" when trying to work with "small stuff".
I suppose, to each his own...

One thing that's rather important to do, is "frequent hand washing" in KNOW "good water"... At least to "rinse-off" with a wee bit of "drinking water", every now and then... I've been through sheer, pure HELL; with my hands, a couple of times, back in the extremely early 1980's... Not anymore. We (Commercial Fishermen) even "rinse with bleach"; when a REAL-LIVE wound "needs attention"... Seafood, in general, holds a LOT of reasons why a man ought to. ... Keep your hands clean.

Washing your hands with anything will leave a sent that may transfer to your bait. Bleach smell last a long time on hands or bait. Soap is not good either. I rinse my hands in the water I'm fishing before handling bait.

Yeah, the water I'm fishing IS "good for me" too... The bleach, soap and/or drinking water; were more along the lines of: "Wound Care" &/or: "Meal-Time"... Or: "I'm done fishing, for now."

¿They be FUNKING the "Spelling" portion of the Inglesh Class?
I wear one on my left hand - better to grip caught fish, keeps slime off my hand, decent sun protection (although I don't wear one on my right hand typically), and it keeps that hand warmer (I will put my right hand in my pocket to keep it warm.)
