Roger that. When I was a kid in Nederland Texas, I could take 25 cents and 1 empty coke bottle to the corner store . I could buy a bottle coke, bag of chips, and a candy bar. The coke was 12 cents, the bag of chips was 5 cents, and the candy bar was 5 cents. Tax was 3 cents, but I would get 2 cents deposit for the empty coke bottle....My2cents

We used to pick up bottles off the side of the road. Get 2 pieces of candy for a penny coke candy bar and still have change for the movies. With popcorn and a soda

Chuck in my hometown we had mom n pop stores every few blocks. I'd gather up soda bottles n turn them in. Nickle for big ones 2 cents for small. Had a news stand one block from town square. Had a soda fountain n pinball machines. Six plays for a quarter. Now it's divided into a micro brewery n a Mexican restaurant. Had two theaters. Still have one. Town hasn't grown much but it's surrounded by developments. Enough good memories to outweigh the bad. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

There's so many experts on this site with lots of time on their hands, it'd be a great service to identify and list the suppliers of fishing tackle who don't rip the "average" fisherman off.
I'm talking about helping the guy who's trying to make a living on $35/$40k a year with a family of 4 and a wife who's working a part-time job to keep the groceries on the table (not easy 20 years ago and much more difficult now, given today's economic turmoil)!
Who can afford to buy a combination rod and reel from Cabellas or Bass-Pro for a couple hundred bucks Plus lures and tackle that add up to another hundred bucks more for trout, bass, pike, crappie and every other specialty/season of the year? Wal-Mart isn't the answer anymore with the cheap junk they're shippng in from China. You can't find American made quality or even Japanese quality any more.
There's got to be web sites where we can find bargains on tackle, places similar to "Wish", where you can buy a decent Circle Hook and it doesn't cost $7 for three plus $5 S&H! Fishing Stage is the place for dedicated fishing enthusiasts to help each other and identify where the "Bargain Bins" are for those of us trying to get by in these tough times.

I don't want to burst your bubble J, but every single thing on Wish IS from China.

Hello and Happy New Year to everyone reading this. I hope you have a good year of reeling them in. I was wondering what other people think of certain lure prices. One of the hottest lures the last few years is the chatterbaits. When I see them selling for as much as $15.00 or more I shake my head. All they are is a Jig with a metal plate. Does it cost that much to produce them that justifies the price? I understand inflation but still. Maybe it is me being cheap. I certainly have spent way too much money over the years, so it is not like I have never opened my wallet. A lot of people who see all my rods, reels and lures think I have spent way too much for what is necessary. Am I wrong about this lure and some others? I know if you look around there are still lots of good lures to be had that catch fish and are more reasonably priced.

If you want to look into making your own lures look at Jann's Netcraft (jannsnetcraft.com). They sell in bulk at reasonable prices and you could possibly make your own much cheaper. They would also send you a free catalog.

I'm with you Fred, I've bought tackle from Wish, Wal-Mart, Cabellas and Bass Pro. The bottom line is that everything I've brought home was made in China and priced everywhere from a couple bucks to nearly $20 depending which distributor/store it came from, BUT probably everything I bought was made in the same sweatshop by child labor!

All I'm saying is, if we (F-S Forum members) can go to Barlow's, Lure Parts, and/or Jann's because we were referred to them by other members who saved $$ by shopping with there, it's a win-win for Us! If those referrals save us $5 or $10 from what the same tackle would have cost at Bass Pro, Cabellas or Dicks, then belonging to Fishing Stage is a great advantage for all of us.

I have said this before. Pawn shops and flea markets. You just keep visiting. Cheap. Sometimes I make an offer for all they have. It might be 6 wood rapalas. Get them for $12 bucks and put new hooks on them. One time it was an old metal tackle box full assorted tackle for $10. Donโ€™t know how it got there, but glad it was saved from a landfill. I havenโ€™t bought any equipment at them yet except for a $6 ugly stick spinning rod from a Goodwill.
Itโ€™s great to have alternate gear for the visitor that never fished before.
