Shop local pawn shops.
If you have an Academy Sports store in your area they carry cheap knockoffs that work.
I have had success with Walmart brands also.

Grizz, We haven’t been allowed to use anything but steel shot for years here in Texas and I’ve heard Parks and Wildlife are talking about lead weights being restricted. It’s also against the law to toss that broken line in the water. It’s also unsportsmanlike too. What really burns me is if you catch a fish and it has swallowed the hook, if it’s barely undersize, you have to throw it back in. It’s food for the water life, I get that, but it’s difficult to toss back a fish a half inch too short, especially since it used to be a legal size. Just venting, not making any sense so shut up.🤐

Your making all kinds of sense Hack just don't start working yourself up over it.You knowThe Stress and the High Blood Pressure nobody needs it not to much we can do about it really I use to love going to music concerts now it cost you plenty to sit in the nose bleed sections and you can't hear crap that's why fishing works and is expensive

Hello and Happy New Year to everyone reading this. I hope you have a good year of reeling them in. I was wondering what other people think of certain lure prices. One of the hottest lures the last few years is the chatterbaits. When I see them selling for as much as $15.00 or more I shake my head. All they are is a Jig with a metal plate. Does it cost that much to produce them that justifies the price? I understand inflation but still. Maybe it is me being cheap. I certainly have spent way too much money over the years, so it is not like I have never opened my wallet. A lot of people who see all my rods, reels and lures think I have spent way too much for what is necessary. Am I wrong about this lure and some others? I know if you look around there are still lots of good lures to be had that catch fish and are more reasonably priced.

You have to look at all the people who need to make a profit from them not only the mfg but the shipper the wholesaler the retailer and who knows how many others all increase the cost

Agreed, but similar lures from different manufacturers might should have similar costs but pricing is 3 times higher. Ozark Trails $5, vs. Whopper Popper $15.

In Massachusetts you can't use lead stinkers in inland waters I'm still trying to find out what the story is with jigs and all the other lead baits out there ( Chatterbait swim baits etc )

I've seen that Henry. The rule says only jigs over 1oz are allowed (basically saltwater type bucktails). When I asked Skip at Saunders, I was basically told , don't ask -don't tell. The sinkers don't really affect me as I fish 99% artificials, but didn't want to get popped for Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, or jigs. I've seen tungsten jigs and sinkers, but none of the other types of weighted baits . You can be sure when they do come out with them, they'll be more expensive than the current, lead based ones.

As far as the cheap Chinese knock offs working just as well, they're probably made on the same production line.
As far as prices go, that's why no one will buy American anymore. We won't work for 10 or 15 dollars a week. They will.

The tungsten sinkers go for a buck apiece that's just the sinker the tungsten swim bait are about the same as the highpriced chatterbait crazy been useing the steel sinkers from wallmart 94 cents for a dozen little bigger in size compared to the lead and I'm sure they make a different sound banging of the rocks and cover than the lead most fisherman say that the lead is better because it's more of thud sound when its bouncing off of stuff where the steel gives a higher pitch I don't know but this year I'm going to powdercoat some and some dipped in liguid. plastic and some in shrink wrap and see if it makes any difference I'm talking like bullet weights and drop shot for bass then deside what to do with the lead ones have to think about maybe melting down and making large saltwater stinkers have to look into that

yes I do Griz! There is a long list of businesses out there that will give a veteran discount. Popeyes, Boscov's Dep't Store, Lowes, Home Depot, JoAnn's fabric Shop, Mission BBQ et alia.
Think the VA website lists the national and regional discounters. Pays to ask everywhere.

Hack is that for all hunting or just around water? I'm with you on the discarded line. Too many let too much trash behind. As for fishing regs wow. Trying to figure them out sometimes is all but impossible. Ain't nothing wrong with venting brother 👍🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
