Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I go out on the lake, it's not necessarily about catching fish but the entire experience. I can go back 180 yards to the back of cove and see a 40 foot waterfall crashing of the ledge and hillside. Not Niagara Falls but just as beautiful in it's own setting. And yes I do enjoy catching fish at the same time!

Gotta love the reflections of the fall leaves on the still water at sunrise and sunset.

I am lucky to live in a place that you can fish for trout in the morning and then stripers at the ocean in the evening. New England is pretty awesome.

Totally. Pretty awesome fishing in New England . Of course that means I need my inshore and surf rods, my trout rods , my bass rods ... etc, My wife doesn’t understand why I need a dozen fishing rods.

I fished all day yesterday and caught enough fish to feed four people dinner, but the highlight of my day was watching a bald eagle fly across the lake fifty yards from my boat and catch a fish off the water.🦅

ONLY A DOZEN ??? How DO you show such restraint ? Lol ! You must be extremely well blessed with a strength most of us SHOULD envy. My own weakness, caused by this "gear disease", is far too advanced for any recovery at this point.
May you younger folk strive to recognize the signs.... screeching tires at the notice of an estate sale, ears perk up at the mention of a sale @ my local tackle shop, your buddy mentioned a planned trip to Cabela's, daily checking of multiple categories on Craigslist..... they're there.... you just have to acknowledge that they control your free will. There's really only two ultimate cures for this......run out of money.....and death. Here's to hoping those coincide for me !!

You really poked a righteous hornets nest here.
You said”don’t get mad...be honest”.
If you get a chance chase down an Oio (Bone Fish) in the sand flats on Kauai with a fly rig. It’s pretty damn fun. Yet no more fun than coaxing a beautiful brown out from under a cut in the bank on the Owens River.
I don’t think it’s jelly that guides a fisherman. Always looking for another way to feed the love of the life.
Then again I was on a halibut trip last year with my wife. Six fishermen aboard. All had fun but one. My wife caught the first halibut, the most halibut and the biggest halibut. All with a conventional real. This other fisherman was using an electric real so...no muscle cost in bringing in his fish. The 30 mile back to the harbor that poor guy was just staring with such jealousy at my wife’s Beautiful monster halibut. (Even though a nice 32lb fish is Much better eating than a 73 pounder when it comes to Wa Halibut) He wasn’t loving the life.
