Nice fish. Interesting spot pattern your fish have there. All the cutthroat I have caught in Washington have the spots going the full length of the fish. Is that pattern typical for there?

Sorry… I’m the last guy to ask. Basically I only fish for bass. Probably caught incidentally about 60 trout (not counting all these bigger lake trout lately) this year. All of them were nice rainbows. First one that looked like this. Somebody more knowledgeable than myself called it a cutthroat. And the lighting my affected my poor quality photo. It did have a lot more spots on its body than shown in that pic. Anyway, it’s still swimming out there. Maybe I can catch him again for a closer look😁

Couple of fast moving little cold fronts passing through. Got some rain during the night, but it looked like I had about a 6 hour window to sneak out on the water before the next one.
Conditions were nice at launching. Air temp holding at 34, water was 46, and a little bit of sun making its presence known.
Caught about 15 smallmouth, nothing huge but all willing to fight. Of course some little trout wanted to join in on the fun… then the bigger Laker’s wanted to show who was king… caught 7 nice Lakers, all between 12-17 lbs. Was able to get a couple big Lakers passing under the boat on the sonar. Just another lucky day on the water. Hope you all enjoy pics. Tight lines to all

Thanks again JB for sharing, always good Scenery and fish! Keep up the good fishing reports, and I see the smile!!😏

I suspect that somehow "genetics" can play a role in how a fish turns out as an adult in terms of markings, etc. Kind of like recessive genes I suppose.

Here is an example of 2 brown trout, caught in the same stream, only a few hundreds yards apart in terms of their "address"....

And neither of these has very many of the nice "red" spots that are typically mixed in with a brown trout! That's OK though...the fish have no choice in the matter!

Those are boring. You should try fishing somewhere else. NOT! Thanks for the photos. Browns, rainbows and cut throat are all very attractive fish. Even more so in their early spawning colors.

Great job as always JB! You are braver than most getting out there in those temps. Great report, what a variety of fish in one day. Thanks for your awesome posts. BTW there are many species of cutthroat native to the intermountain west on both sides of the continental divide. I suspect those are the Westslope variety since you are west of the divide.

Aaaaah Thanks Tim. I appreciate the education as I’m not completely dialed in. But I’m fumbling along and enjoying every minute too.

I fished it once, what a lake. I was amazed how big the king salmon are in FP. I’m about 1,500 miles but I will be back. Really good red eyes too I know you like them!
