I think all waterfowl tags are Federal Dave. Since the birds migrate from state to state.

Not in California Grizz. They don't give a crap for old folks. You been paying taxes for the privilege of living here since you was a babe? Well, pay some more. I pay same rate as a 17 year old. I am 73 and retired USN. So what? says Uncle Gavin. And Jerry. And Arnold. And Pete and Ronnie.

That's just wrong Spirit. I tell my wife all the time it's disrespectful how this country treats vets n senior citizens. Money goes to those that won't work. Should go to those that spent their lives working to build this country n to those that did their part in fighting for the whole world. 🤬🤬

I found that true in Oregon too. I could buy a non resident fishing license from Washington cheaper than my resident fishing license in Oregon for my application. Something out of whack there for sure. Where I live now I can buy all of my hunting licenses and tags as well as every fishing license I need for way less than what, just a, fishing license coast me in Oregon. AND I can fish and keep fish here too👍. I bought a resident elk, bear, deer, wolf and annual fishing license here for $78.00. In Oregon it’s WAY over-regulated and I was just buying a fishing license,$114.00 annually, and watching all the seasons being closed when I got a chance to go. Well outside of planter rainbows, bass and catfish there. The white mush fish not suitable for human consumption. Not mine anyway. 🤮. Everything else, in Oregon, is catch and release only, limited quotas and emergency closures.

Well wouldn't that be nice? Except for one HUGE problem. Those licensing fees help go towards restocking the lakes and streams in California, so if they only collected a half a year of licensing fees then you would get a lot less fish stocked, then people won't like to fish much due to the lack of fish, then more people won't buy licenses, and...well you can see the domino effect. So since you fish, and you take your share out of those lakes and streams pay your damn license for the whole year and be happy about it!

You called Texas Parks & Wildlife? They are always so helpful when I’ve contacted them. I don’t know about other states but in Texas a game warden has more authority than any law enforcement agency. They don’t need a permit to enter your residence and search your home if you’re suspected of breaking the game laws. I also found out one night they can pull you over and write a speeding ticket, but he was nice about it...🤔

They have never sold 1/2 year licenses and have the lowest sales of fishing licenses in years as folks do not want to pay 52.66 for a fishing license for a calendar year. If I only Salmon fish in the fall in the Sacramento River and then for trout in the spring I would have needed to purchase two licenses for 105.00 any stamps. Now you can fish in September and April with the same license which makes sense. California still does not offer any deals for seniors or veterans unless your have a veterans disability. California also has the lowest percentage of fishing license sales per capita because of their old calendar year license; perhaps this will change that.

I don't know about all but some sell short term licences so why not six months?

Unfortunately not. The ONLY break we get is if you have a 50% or more SERVICE CONNECTED disability then it is greatly reduced. Regular license, $52.00. Disabled vet license, $8.00.

They do restock fish everywhere but not anywhere near what California does, California has a large population and that population over fish the lakes and streams, so California has a lot more fish hatcheries than any other state, someone has to pay for those fish hatcheries and the fishing population pays for it since they are the ones sucking the fish out of the water. The alternative would be to allow people only to fish every other year, allowing a full year for fish to repopulate on their own, I think most people would scream at that, or they could do a lottery program like they do for deer hunting in California, and only a certain number of people would be allowed to fish any given year which again would allow fish to repopulate on their own, more screaming from the fishing people, so you have fish hatcheries and expensive fishing license to pay for it all. The license fee also helps pay for water conservation projects.

They also have a larger population than alot of states. Is it possible if they made prices more reasonable more people would fish. If overfishing is a problem then they need better management. More catch n release. Lower keep limits. Susquehanna river was overfished. Alot of guys got wizzed when Pa closed down bass fishing. Season still closed during spawn n still c&r only. No live well tournaments. Same with deer hunting. Big deer almost gone. Put antler restrictions on. Now some big bucks being taken. All the money in the world won't help if not managed properly
