Well Henry, for people that don't fish very often or don't get invited to go with someone very often if they can't go by themselves it makes a lot of sense.
If you got invited to go fishin, lets say over the Thanksgivings holidays and you didn't have a license because you don't get invited to go very often, then your license was only gonna be good for a little over a month. Then if you got invited to go out after January 1st you would have to get another license.
Now with the new system, your license is good for a whole year from the date you purchase it.
Does it make more sense now.
Granted, for those of us that fish all the time and buy our fishin license Jan. 1st all the time, there isn't gonna be any difference. But not everybody does that. This new way your license is gonna be good for a WHOLE year from WHENEVER you purchase it. NOT just till the end of the year, Dec. 31st, as the old system was.

So Cali doesn't have a 3 day or week license it's just a licence for the year so if I wanted to go to California for a fishing vacation I would have to buy a license for the whole year??

Yes they do, 1 day and a 2 day license. But if you bought one of those say 3 or 4 times a year it's gonna cost you more than an annual fishin license. If you FOR SURE were ONLY gonna go out that 1 time for the WHOLE year then you would only want to get a 1 or 2 day license. A 1 day license is $17.00. A 2 day license is $26.00.
An annual license is $52.00.

Unfortunately not. The ONLY break we get is if you have a 50% or more SERVICE CONNECTED disability then it is greatly reduced. Regular license, $52.00. Disabled vet license, $8.00.

Yeah, the second pole cost me more than my license did. NO discount on any stamps or add ons.

Basically, California decided to stop screwing fishermen out of a full year of fishing! That's it

Yep, pretty much.
Now if they would just give seniors and some others a break on price it would be even better.
