Hey Hack,
Thanks for the “truth”, don’t get much of that these days! I’m about 7 years younger than you, and glad I’m an ole fart that can fish during the week too!
Found a few nice flounder in Sabine Monday Tuesday and the run hasn’t started yet, waters still 80F.

Man, Trahan, that’s an awesome blanket you have there. What were you using for bait? Our water was 81-82 degrees and once those birds started working we were all over the water chasing them. What really ticked off both of us were other boaters blasting right through the middle of the birds. They weren’t fishing, just boat riding. I checked yesterday about the Flounder run and it’s going to need to get a lot cooler before that’s going to happen. Thanks, but I’m not sure about the truth part.

Hack,
I used my homemade lure, sort of an upside down spinner bait, I call it LuLu lure!

Those are some great looking lures. I like the upside down hook set up with the single blade. It looks really fishy inviting.🎣

Great day, Hack. Glad you had a good time and got some action. Easy with that old, fat man talk though, I resemble that remark. I might lack a little fat but I make up for it with more years.....lol

Great day you had. Fun when they hit like that even a little short will give you the fight and expectation of a legal.

Thanks for all the pictures. Sunrise is beautiful.

Yes, but the deer tail, pour the lead head, powder coat the jig, add flash then add the blade, bam; modified fluke bait!

My buddy and I went to a saltwater lake this morning called Clear Lake. It gets it’s water from Galveston Bay. Anyway we got there before sunrise and threw artificials near by at bulkheads until the sun came up. The wind was from the North at 5 MPH at sunrise. It got up to 5 to 10 MPH, but the water remained slick. Finally the birds started working all up and down the lake. We must have caught well over 50 Speckled Trout (Spotted Sea Trout), but they were all within an inch or two of being legal. Along with all the Specks we caught numerous Gaff Top (Saltwater Catfish). I kept two of the larger Gaffs and cut some filets out.
It was an awesome day coming to a close, then the birds quit working, so we came on home. The picture of me was taken by my wife before I began filleting. I look like an old fat guy with a sunburn so go ahead and rag on me. Tight lines. I beat ya to it.

Thanks BT. “A little fat”! Are you agreeing I’m fat but not old? 😁
I agree too.
