My buddy and I went to a saltwater lake this morning called Clear Lake. It gets it’s water from Galveston Bay. Anyway we got there before sunrise and threw artificials near by at bulkheads until the sun came up. The wind was from the North at 5 MPH at sunrise. It got up to 5 to 10 MPH, but the water remained slick. Finally the birds started working all up and down the lake. We must have caught well over 50 Speckled Trout (Spotted Sea Trout), but they were all within an inch or two of being legal. Along with all the Specks we caught numerous Gaff Top (Saltwater Catfish). I kept two of the larger Gaffs and cut some filets out.
It was an awesome day coming to a close, then the birds quit working, so we came on home. The picture of me was taken by my wife before I began filleting. I look like an old fat guy with a sunburn so go ahead and rag on me. Tight lines. I beat ya to it.

That's a really good pic of the Hilton at sunrise, nice gafftop also too bad the trout were all small, should be a good crop for next summer if we dont have another freeze
Thanks Hack
Glad you had fun Hack, thanks for sharing!
Sounds like a fantastic morning! All that "catching" would at least keep your hopes high for something in the legal range! The 2 catfish will taste nice as a reward for your trip! Way to go fishing as a team!

Great job Hack, and nice cats. Glad you caught a mess of specks, sorry they were shorts, but you had lots of action. Thanks for the pictures, those sunrise ones are beauties.

Thanks Cam. We had a great time catching all those Trout. We probably missed as many as we hooked. Sometimes they would come out of the water as the plastic was coming down. It was so cool. I really liked getting the Hilton in there.

I’m pretty healthy, just old. We did have a blast. Today they were barely bumping the lure at times, and other times they were hitting it hard as soon as it hit the water. We had to keep our rod tips down while reeling in or they would jump out of the water and get off. They’re mouth is like paper thin so that’s why you don’t want them jumping. It’s a blast Andy. You’d love it.

It’s about time isn’t it OJ? I had a great time hanging all those fish. Those Gafftops are hard fighters. Then after you get them to the boat, you can’t bring them in the boat because of all the slime. Nasty stuff, but fun.

Oh yeah yaker, every cast had expectations of a legal Trout. Some were close but not to be. Every time we hooked a Gafftop, I hoped it would be a Red Drum. Ya never know.
