Good name : sure looks like a lizard. Any prey that gets chomped by those teeth is not going to escape!

Actually they are not very aggressive, excellent Snook bait, I've seen guys use them for grouper as well

Thanks for the update. I was actually asking about fishing in St John USVI. But Tampa Bay is cool too. The best fishing I EVER experienced was the pier 60 in Clearwater. I was in the area for business and stayed within walking distance of the pier. One evening I went over and rented some equipment. The sand trout were running. I fished from 7 PM till 11 PM. My arms were so tired I could not pull another fish in. I think I probably caught over 100 fish.

Regarding St. John, some of my family were there a few months ago and they said seafood is almost non-existant there. That baffled me so I did some research and discovered that they dump their garbage and sewage offshore....so local seafood is not exactly desirable there

If you get a lizard fish here in the Shrewsbury River (Monmouth County NJ) hook them like a bait fish and a striped bass will grab it!

It's called a Lizard Fish, about a foot long. I used him for bait to catch some Yellow tail.

fishing from shore is pretty tough, it's pretty shallow. caught a few small fish. Charters are pretty productive but pricey. Already spent a small fortune on the 2 week vaca.
