No idea what that is, but sure looks capable of inflicting some pain. Are they good to eat? Thanks for the photo. Can we have more?

Thanks. According to the web, they're pretty tasty, a lot like flounder. Ever try it?

That's what I read. I used to fish all over the San Diego surf and kelp beds and I never saw one, on my line or anyone else's.

We catch them on mackerel spoons fishing for Spanish Mackerel, when they start hitting we know the macks have quit and it's time to leave. Guy I know is retired navy gmc, told me they used 2 footers for trolling around the Persian Gulf when he was stationed there....crazy

Which make great catfish bait, but are otherwise useless. Oh, I guess they're fun to catch. Saba at the sushi restaurant. That means "no thank you" in Spiritese.

Pretty much......not bad smoked, makes some decent fish cakes and dip. I usually give them away

I just bought one from the oriental market. Going to Collins Lake tomorrow, there are decent sized channel cats in there and they like mackerel. We'll see.
