Need GOOD fishing spots near Gettysburg...

I moved to Gettysburg PA 18 years ago.
I finally got my fishing license this Summer!
Used to fish a LOT in Baltimore and WV, but having a hell of a time catching anything up here.
Looking for BASS, mainly, but right now, I'd settle for anything.
What am I doing wrong?
Am I fishing out-of-season?
Where are some good spots to fish from the shoreline (no boat)?
Marsh creek in Gettysburg and Conewago creek good smallmouth fishing especially wet wading.
There's Marsh Creek in Dosningtown too, but it's a reservoir. One of the lakes I looked at for my Tracker that I havent to gotten to use yet.
So far I'm just fishing from the shorelines.
If I buy a boat, my wife will tie me to the anchor, and drop me in the deepest lake.
Joke's on her, because the EPA would slap her with a huge fine for dumping toxic waste!
I could always rent a boat at the larger lakes.
I still have my Minkota and deep cell battery π
I can't do kayaking - my legs don't like being straight and cramped up. π

Try Lake Codorus in Hanover,PA. 3500 acres. Been there before...good fishing and plenty of shoreline.

Gene Lake marburg rents boats. Not sure on prices.
Lake Marburg is 1275 acres. It has 26 miles of shoreline. Codorus state park is 3500 acres

Do you think I could convince them that my 75 hp Merc is really a 20?

Ah no lol. I'd like them to believe my grizzly only had a 20. It use to be 17hp. At least there is no pwc's no skiers or tubers to worry about. I've been thinking about getting a small ob for my pond boat.
Hey guys,
Thanks for all of the replies so far!
My plans to go to Codorus were thwarted.
I'll schedule again.

Sorry to hear that Gene. Is the campground still closed ?
I really don't know, but I'll be fishing, not staying.
Yesterday, for about 3hours, I went to Marsh Creek, by the covered bridge... NADA!
Saw a large-ish 24" Carp, and hoped I wouldn't hook it!
I'm revisiting my initial request.
I'm adding this:
"WHERE have you been able to catch decent fish, in South Central PA (Gettysburg; Waynesboro; Chambersburg; Hanover; Harrisburg (South)"... THIS YEAR!!!
By "decent", I mean most anything over nine inches π
Since late August, I'm STILL having very little luck.
And, with ALL due respect, PLEASE don't recommend a place where you caught a boatload of Bass... in 2012 - I'm talking about the PRESENT water conditions.
I've mixed up my offerings to the fish gods, but nada!
You know it's bad, when you toss a live nightcrawler in, and it comes back on the hook, EVERY TIME!
Forget about getting strikes, and losing a fish - I'm not even getting nibbles
I'm serious, the little Sunnies and Bluegills aren't even attacking.
I've had to strip the hook clean so many times.
I'm used to being able to spit in the water, and having Bluegills attack it like Piranha.
When I toss the worm pieces into the shallows now, they fall to the bottom, and lie there until I'm gone.
This is NOT normal.
My skills aren't THAT bad.
Other than Grizzly's one LMB, I haven't seen another angler pull in a fish.
Oh, of course, whenever I ask, some guy will say, "I've caught a couple today."
Well, I call BS.
I've asked almost every person on the local waters, how they're doing this year, and the resounding reply is, "Not catching much of anything".
Sure, there may be an uptick in catching Trout, but that's because they are stocking them.
Some local waters are also stocking things like Striper Hybrids.
But... Where are the fish??? π€¬
Is this something the State is aware of?
Is it happening outside the Mid-Atlantic Region (freshwater only)?
Or, have I just lost my skills? π³π
I spent a few hours at Gifford Pinchot Reservoir yesterday.
It seems like the Bass are finally BITING!
I didn't fish (treasure hunting instead), but everyone coming back in had good news.
This included one guy who claims to have caught "A SEVEN POUNDER!" - which, by using the "True Fish Weight Calculator" Phone App*, translates to about 2.5lbs. π
* Not an actual app - but it really should be π
