Thatβs a horrible thing to happen blue. What an ass.
I started Crappie fishing with a guy who was looking for a fishing partner about two months ago. Iβve been out with him four times and each time weβve spent a couple of hours fishing, after itβs hotter than hell, and the rest of the time Iβm sitting there watching him looking for bottom structure and plotting courses on his new
Iβm pretty burned out. Maybe itβll be better after it cools off.π€

Wow...that can get old just looking at the finder. It's ok for a few minutes but not hours. Sometimes just getting your line wet is enough to enjoy the day looking at the water, trees, birds and listening to the wind and hoping!!!

I think that is why we all love to get out on the water. A little peace and quiet.

There is nothing more sad than seeing a small kid seasick throwing up. I saw two young boys with his happy dad on a 6 pack charter boat. They all got seasick and were sitting together. The boys were the most sick and kept throwing up on the poor dad. That almost made me sick for awhile seeing that. Had to move to other side other boat.
I saw something similar. My dad took me fishing on a party boat while we were camping at Cape Hatteras. There was a grandfather and grandson fishing next to us. Gramps was helping his grandson reel in a fish when he lost it all over his grandson who turned around and asked βGrampa what did you do that for?β
Took a scout troop camping on Block Island. When the scouts got on the ferry they were running around everywhere. It was very rough and the ferry was making 10 foot drops on the water. About half way there, they all got quiet and then one by one headed for the rail and heaved. When we got to the island the sides of the boat looked like clam chowder.

The trip i took with my cuz was like taking a kid. He's ex navy but was scared to death in my tracker. 17' deep sides very stable. 1st time fishing from a t boat. I'd let him cast 1st then I'd cast before i could make a decent retrive he'd cast over my line. Time after time. He's very unstable so i had to help him in n out of the boat. Since he out wighted me by 70 lbs that was not easy. I started to throttle up n he asked if i had to go so fast. I said i have to get on plane. I was only doing 20mph. Next time we'll bank fish ππ

I really don't get how people can be so selfish to ruin others time. I've had my share of bad experiences fishing. Had a lot of great times as well. Just gotta learn who you can take and not take. Most of the time it is my son and I. He started deer hunting last year. Love that too. But we get quality time and we learn from each other. We get pretty competitive but at the end of the day it is all fun and a relaxing time. I guess I'm lucky to have a great son as a few on here never got that chance. One thing you guys could do is take one of the neighbors boys fishing. It's not the same but a great experience all the same. Good luck everyone and enjoy your time.

Thank you Travis. My boys went hunting and fishing with me almost every time I went. I really miss those days. Theyβre all adults now with their own families so I donβt have that pleasure anymore.

Well just hang on to everything yβall do together and it will give you warm fuzzy memories later in your life. My sons and I still talk about our trips together, and Iβm sure they wish we could continue doing it but that will never happen because of my health issues and their family lives now.

Well I have to say i do remember one bad "Fishing Buddy". He would show up and park next to me and as long as he wasn't drinking he was a good guy. After he got drunk he would turn hard to be with. Haven't seen him for a couple years and had almost forgot about him. Don't have problems with any others where I go fishing from shore in the Bay, other than crossed lines. LOL I try and tell the "New Guys" that they have to have at least a 2 Oz. Triangle sinker and 3 Oz. if it is windy. Too much current otherwise.

Itβs gets old quick. But what can I do? Itβs his boat and he doesnβt want to go fishing alone, or I should say his wife doesnβt want him to go out in the boat alone. I understand that but to continually go slow and scan the bottom for structure and map out an area of the lake is not what I get up at 4 AM for.

Hack: I had a friend who owned a beautiful fishing boat. He invited me out for a day of fishing on the upper Niagara River. Runs between Niagara Falls and Lake Erie. That stretch of river holds many, many, species of fish that can make for a wonderful day of fishing. When I got to the marina we boarded this boat and sat around having coffee. I was very anxious to head out and catch some fish. Finally I asked him when he planned on leaving the marina and said "we're not, we can fish from here". Which was the slip the boat was in. He said he did not want to run the hours on the engines just to catch a few fish. He was saving the hours for a boat parade of all the high dollar vessels around town. Needless to say that was the last non trip we ever took together. He did call me shortly after this experience and wanted me to take him and his son out on Lake Ontario to catch some king salmon. I politelt declined.
Have a great day.
