Great looking fish and great job at landing that thing!
Bob,
From experience, even vacuum packed it has a short shelf life. In your main fridg/freezer where the door is opening allot, I would try to eat within 3 months. In a deep freezer that is not opened often maybe 4 or 5. Dark meat fish like tuna start developing the "fishy" taste faster than white meat fish.
Sorry I took so long to respond
That day I watched others catch bluefin all about the same size and taking an hour and a half to two hour to land
So at 70 years old I knew I would not last that long and having to pass off my rod and real would have been one of the worst days of my life
So I gambled as soon as I got hooked up I gave it all I had 100%. I was able to get its head turned in the direction of the boat. Probably 200yards out. The next 20 minutes all went ok but then my left arm started cramping up as I pumped the rod and my right arm followed with pain from cranking the reel.
Next the most amazing site DEEP COLOR
Now from my knees and the rod pivoting on the rail seeing that monster circling under the boat and back out. The deckhand now leaning over the rail half in the boat and half out WOW the first gaff in the head a second gaff followed . I was now ready to fall on the deck but was told I had to assist in lifting the fish with the gaff onto the boat
I did then collapsed
A special THANKS to the skipper and crew of the Vagabond out of San Diego COULD NOT OF BEEN ANY BETTER A FISHING TRIP

‘‘WHOA!!... Thanks for "putting a bow" on your report of the catch! (¿How often have you been "forcing yourself" to EAT some of it?) {Wouldn't be having to force ME, if it was served continuously, until GONE!!}

Great story Bob. My PB was a 135 lb. Yellowfin, but I was 40 yrs old. I am 73 now, can't imagine doing it at 70. Great big congrats to you for landing that fish at your age. You are my hero.
