For me it’s about sharing knowledge on a topic ( if I have any knowledge) , experiences with same , and learning while I still can......My 2cents.

I love seeing and hearing about others success. Fishing for me is not a competition but a life sharing event. I contribute little but learn much. I have never met any of you but I’m pretty sure could be good friends with many of you.

I am here because I wanted to learn the different fishing techniques and have a passion for the outdoors. Right now I am in the hard knocks of learning how to fish and know time and experience will help. After being here a little while I have made friends and feel at home with all the great folks here and hope to contribute as I get more experience fishing. Y’all have been the motivation to get me back out on the lake again.Thank y’all 🎏🐠🐟🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks for the reply and kind words plumbob. Attached are a couple of pictures my son took of where I grew up. Bear Creek in the Sparrows Point area. My nephew got my parents house from my brother and I and we were happy it stayed in the family. I was 65 when I got my first grandson and hope to take him there soon to fish. He’s 4 now and ready to start. Picture of my nephew with a catfish he caught from the pier.

I originally came here to learn and boy, have I learned a lot. You all have shared so much of your knowledge and you’ve helped me tremendously. I’m really grateful for that. The true gem, though, is having stumbled into friendships with you all. I wasn’t expecting that when I joined the stage. I love being among this funny, generous, caring and supportive crew of people. I sure do hope to meet some of you all in person someday. Thanks for all of the laughs and advice. Cheers to alla yall and fish on! 🎣🥳😎💕

Well said Betts….the guys and gals on FS have given so much of their advice to me when i first started this thing called fishing, from what rod and reel to start with, what bait to use for what fish, all the way thru my trials and tribulations of buying, repairing and eventually unloading my very first boat. Im new to fishing, and youd have to be an arrogant moron to not want the advice of the members here who have been doing this for decades….

the fact that guys and gals on a website who never met me , will take so much time giving advice, walking me thru things, explaining things i dont quite “ get”….is absolutely a beautiful thing and im happy to be a part of it.

Awesome pics Archie and awesome Cat the nephew has. I grew up Balto city, Catonsville and Ellicott city. I know your area by name only and just recently finally went fishing in Curtis Bay. Your pics look like a fisherman's dream for sure.

By all means get that 4 year old out there. The sooner the better, you know how our winters are. 1 day 20 the next 60.

Danger, here on the stage is just like your profession. Brother and Sisterhood at it's best the majority of the time.

We just loss a local fire chief due to injury's from a fire. There will be a line of vehicles and uniforms lined up for miles.

Brother and Sisterhood is something we need to keep alive in this land.

I agree plum….one difference that amazes me….at the firehouse we live , train, eat, work and fight fires together and a bond of brotherhood developes that comes with that…..

On the Stage…it develops between people who never met…..i find that amazing and awesome….and again, glad to be a small part of it.

I ignore what I don't like and contribute on the rare occasion that I might know what I'm talking about. That's all you can do.

I agree completely Mike. I can't, for the life of me, understand why some people complain about our discussions, or attempt at comedy, or talking about family issues. IF IT DOESN'T INTREST YOU, DON'T READ IT!
Pretty simple if you ask me.

I don’t fish much anymore. I like the pics of the catches especially the kids. I can remember when I was a young kid fishing. I enjoy most of the posts here and have passed on to others this site. I like the Camaraderie. This is a good subject Ben. Thanks 🌴😎🌴

I’m pretty consistent at reading the stage and contributing where I can
But why do I do this?
I’ve literally been bashed a few times on here . Like talk like that in a bar and one of us would take an ass beatin !
Some others consider me a subject matter expert on certain things
But , for the most part this forum is a really nice way to exchange info on fishing in general.
I like regional reports. It’s something to keep in mind when going out next weekend
Love pics of guys and gals holding something big
Also really like that we have female participants. Male dominated activity and have women actively hunting fish !! Outstanding.

And I think I’ve formed a friendship of sorts with several of you that I’ve never met.

Why do we do this?

I joined up to be a part of something that I enjoy. I joined other groups such a men's golf group. I also joined the sheriffs aviation surch and rescue. I dropped out of both because of the clicks, it wasn't for me.
This stage might have a couple of bad apples but that still leaves 99% good ones and that's my focus. I don't fish a lot and when I do it's only trout fishing in the eastern sierras. I enjoy reading all the posts and found out just how little I know about fishing. I'm almost embarrassed to share what I know after 55 years of fishing.
You have a very good question and I asked myself the same thing.
Your comments are welcome.

Yup. In a world of make believe this stuff is real life with good folks. Media on tv …..gave 99% of it up. Entertainment………same thing. Commercials flaunting the new standard……..avoid at all costs. Spend waaaay more time on my IPad than in front of the tv. I think it’s doing me good.

You got that right man. I Fish 4 to 5 days a week, as I live on the lake. I post pics of the fish caught with the lures in their mouths. I give water temps, generation amount, air temperature and whatever else I think will help an angler. I am an MLF official, spending several days in the boat with different pros. I spent three days in the boat with Kevin VanDam and Lawson Hibdon in New York last week. However, I’ve been bashed and accused of being a so-called expert (which I am not) to the point that I almost quit this site. But then I’ve made a lot of friends and I get a lot of private messages of people asking information about the Lake of the Ozarks, where I live. So I think I’ll stick around.
Thanks for your Post Ben.
