The first fish posted is called a bluegill. Very common in this area. And the second fish shown is a perch, from what I can tell. Jim

No problem, I am glad it was outdated. It is interesting to see how they have expanded their territory. I was not being negative, just sharing something I found of interest and thought others might also be interested.

Hi Mau. Eagleville dam in Coventry. Fishing for bass but not getting anything, water off dam running real fast. A father and sun fishing near me kept catching the bluegills. When they were leaving they gave me their nightcrawlers so I switched and caught a bunch of bluegills. It was fun, I don't like getting skunked, so I fished for 30 minutes then left. Went to Mansfield Hollow, 1st cast a very small Largemouth, then nothing. Still a nice day.

Thanks Yank!! I don’t get to Eastern Ct much since I quit gambling 20 years ago. I was thinking about trying the Farmington River. I was in that area and the river looks accessible.

I put this picture into another post on here, but thought I would do a separate post to see if I might get more responses. I find it fascinating, the number of names we all have for the same fish in different parts of the country. So, these are just about anywhere in the US that folks fish, except for a few places probably, when you catch one what do you call it?

And the second picture, where could I go in California to catch one of those? And what would you calll it?

Hey Spirit......same here in NE Ohio......Bluegill & perch........but i call them lunch...

I've never fished it but the Farmington river is well known for trout. Good luck if you go

You’re right. I’ve heard there are some decent trout in there.

Found the most updated map possible for the yellow perch distribution map for North
America, but cannot find any
way to get it onto this site !

Here is the info if anyone would care to look it up !

depts.washington.edu - is the site, under the heading 'Native and
Introduced Range of Yellow Perch
in North America' - from Bradford
et al (2008) !
