I’d really like to go poly. I’m still trying to find contact info for Moeller and Seastar Solutions which I’m not having much luck doing. I’ll see if I can’t do better on the phone tomorrow. But if my tank has enough integrity with a small repair, then I might keep it. Or I’m not opposed to going with a new aluminum tank either. My tank has a wall thickness of 090 where as the new one would be 160. So that would out last the boat I would think. So things are still kinda up in the air until I can get my tank inspected and make a decision based on that…🐟on

Understood. I’ll be watching and waiting for your final decision.

Just got off the phone with seastar and they said that they don’t make that shallow of a tank and they don’t make custom poly tanks and my best bet would be to have a custom built aluminum tank built to my specific dimensions. So I guess that’s what I’ll do if my tank is determined to be in bad shape…🐟on

We’ll I went to the welder (tank builder) yesterday and he examined my tank and concluded that there is some erosion starting to invade on the bottom and on one end. His thought was that I could probably get a few more years out of it. Just keep an eye on it. I told him that wasn’t an option, being where it lays in the boat. So I decided to pull the trigger on a new aluminum tank. I’m sure it will out last me and the boat. I should have it by this time next week 🤞…🐟on

I read in some forums that there is SMR kink of corrosion resistant coating recommended on aluminum gas tanks. Not sure but may have been coal tar.

Meant to say “ some kind of corrosion…”auto correct sucks.
Not saying that it should be used on the old tank but to consider it on the new one before enclosing under floor.

That might be something to look into…I’m just not sure if there’s any coast guard regulations say’n you can’t apply any coatings on boat tanks. Because if you could wouldn’t you think that would be standard on all or at least most applications. It would only make sense. IDK 🤷‍♂️…🐟on

I know you have to have coast guard approved fuel lines…🐟on
