Hello

I am new here and to Rochester NY. Anyone here fish in this region? I’m interested in learning more about the fish here. Lake Ontario is probably the most convenient for me. I will be fishing from the shore. What tackle is best for the fish that are in-shore in the summer? Do I need a license to fish in NY? Anything else I need to know? Thanks in advance!

Betts is from Finger Lakes. If she doesn’t respond shortly you can PM her. She’s a regular here and likes to share information.
Good luck and remember we love pictures.
And welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the Fishing Stage Forum, caroleeheaps!! I would imagine that the State of New York, would require a fishing license... I've never fished Lake Ontario OR the Finger Lakes... Alot of people fish from shore, here in and around Cleveland... I recommend doing a bit of "online research", more specific to the spot that you hope to be at, when you "wet a line". ¡Good luck with it all!
