Two years ago I went down to Fla to fish with my best Friend. We were targeting Oscars...South American Oscar Cichlids. A non-native, invasive species that is taking over the Everglades and elsewhere. These are a result of aquarium owners dumping their pets that have become too large and too aggresive for their tanks. We loaded the boat with them using cane poles and chicken liver. They fight like fish twice their size. One even broke my hook!
I asked if there was a limit on these and my Buddy said "Well let's put it like this...If the game Warden sees you throw one back....He'll probably arrest you.
The LM Bass were biting too so I switched over and had a great day "Catching" See for yourself.

Speaking of a fish following a lure right up to the boat, I caught my PB Peacock Bass this way. I had been using a Zara Spook that had been painted a custom color of a Peacock and was walking the dog while watching my partner land a small Butterfly Bass. I was seated at the very back by the motor in a short seat. I looked down to check on my lure and expecting it to be near the boat. What I saw as just a large hole in the water where the bass had taken the Spook at the very last minute! I fall on my knees and hit the release on the Shimano to allow the fish to get clear of the motor's scag. I didn't want it to cut the line on the motor. After it had swum about 10 to 15 yards I re-engaged the reel and begin to fight it. Just Sayin....RJS

Look ๐Ÿ‘€ up the scientific name for LM Bass and Oscars they are both Cichlids ๐Ÿ  no one seems to care that both Striped Bass and LM Bass are none native species in California because of the million dollar industry that it has with all the tournaments

Fla should have OSCAR TOURNAMENTS like Bass TOURNAMENTS get rid of a lot of them oscars.SOMEONE from Fla should put one of these together the state would probably be more than ready to help you set it up ๐Ÿ˜

Up to about 1 1\2 to 2 pounds. Fight like crazy and very slimey. One hit my Bass crankbait and as I was trying to unhook him he slipped out of my left hand and on his way down, impaled two hooks in my right hand index finger. Barbs were buried. My Buddy took one look and said I was on my own! I Just backed em out with a pair of needle nosed pliars. I cannot lie....I wimpered a bit!..needed a little "brown water" to take the edge off.

Amen with that madpole๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘I had thought they were bigger because they were up on the ironing board and the picture made them look a lot bigger than the bass๐Ÿ˜ฑ
