Out here shoe peg corn just kills kokanee. Sometime works on trout.
Pink salad shrimp has caught a few salmon. Some people like to wrap a sardine
onto a quick fish and they do catch salmon.

Didn't you worry about the game warden hearing the bang?

Started fishing a few weeks ago. So far I’ve only used worms and have caught sm bass, carp, perch and catfish.

Not gonna lie, the worms are pretty gross and it would be nice not to have to deal with them every single time. Are there any meats/vegetables I can use that I might have in the house that are fairly all purpose like worms are? Or does that bait have to “look alive” to attract the fish?

I was thinking of putting some corn kernels on the hook, or maybe some chopped up salmon. I don’t want to get into lures yet because I really get how you’re supposed to know which lures to use. Also whenever I go fishing with this one guy who always uses lures, about 45 mins in he consistently says “I’m gonna switch to worms, they’re not biting” and then he gets a bunch of bites.

One solution is to use this: https://www.lurecraft.com/mobile/Lunker-Scent-EARTHWORM/productinfo/1X212/
Take your bag of Yum, Zoom or other plastic (NOT-ElazTech) worms; put a few drops in the bag or in a ziploc containing the plastic worms, close the bag, massage to distribute scent, marinate overnight, and you're good to go!

Has anyone ever used cut up carp fillet as bait?
Thought about mixing in with a stink bait with alcohol
