Last night, about 7:00 pm, I was sitting on the patio, sipping on a barley pop, and watching the birds at the two feeders, and listening to Alexa playing some Charlie Pride. This is a routine thing, and I always take the 12 ga. with me in order to keep the blackbird and the rabbit population in check. Plus, we have two resident mountain lions, a few bobcats, and many coyotes around. Keep in mind that I do live in the woods, and we can live just fine without any of the three critters mentioned previously. So, I think it is a good idea to keep a Rugar 10/22, or a 12 ga. by each of the four doors of the house. And yes they are loaded. Anyhow and anyway, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed this young coon waddling up the yard, onto the patio, and he was headed right towards me. When I shot him, he was 6" from the conversation table, 6" from my chair, and 6" from the barrel of the 12 ga. He never stopped to look at me or anything, he just kept waddling towards me. I was thinking that he may have had rabies because it was a little early for coon to be out. Marion shot a possum off of the deck once while it was eating out of the kitty dish that we had put out for the stray cats. Oh well, it is what it is.

Whitey. Did you ever eat beaver. The kind that chews down trees n builds dams. Boy i worked with trapped them. Told him is he cleaned one I'd make something out of it. That beaverhad some much fat on it n the rib bones very large. By the time i got fat off i didn't have alot of meat. I was thinking bbq or stew. Instead i made jerky. Eveyone was afraid to try it. Used sweet n spicy seasoning. Once the 1st bite was taken it didn't last long. Made stew with antelope neck roast. That didn't last long either. 👍👍
