It's fun to shoot Whitey. I belong to to fish n game clubs. Longest range 200yds. Wish they'd stretch it out to at least 500yds. I've shoot a 220 swift. That's a bad ass gun brother. Would be nice if i could find affordable ammo.

My SIL has a Creedmore 6.5 that should be good to about 1000 yards. Longest range I can have access to is 800 yards. We haven't had a chance to try it yet, but we will.

Last night, about 7:00 pm, I was sitting on the patio, sipping on a barley pop, and watching the birds at the two feeders, and listening to Alexa playing some Charlie Pride. This is a routine thing, and I always take the 12 ga. with me in order to keep the blackbird and the rabbit population in check. Plus, we have two resident mountain lions, a few bobcats, and many coyotes around. Keep in mind that I do live in the woods, and we can live just fine without any of the three critters mentioned previously. So, I think it is a good idea to keep a Rugar 10/22, or a 12 ga. by each of the four doors of the house. And yes they are loaded. Anyhow and anyway, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed this young coon waddling up the yard, onto the patio, and he was headed right towards me. When I shot him, he was 6" from the conversation table, 6" from my chair, and 6" from the barrel of the 12 ga. He never stopped to look at me or anything, he just kept waddling towards me. I was thinking that he may have had rabies because it was a little early for coon to be out. Marion shot a possum off of the deck once while it was eating out of the kitty dish that we had put out for the stray cats. Oh well, it is what it is.

Yep. Cut up an boil then roll in flour with seasoning an fry up. Like you said spirit its not rabbit but hey it's not bad. You got to give them a couple months being out of that hole and you want a younger oneπŸ˜πŸ‘

Whitey. Did you ever eat beaver. The kind that chews down trees n builds dams. Boy i worked with trapped them. Told him is he cleaned one I'd make something out of it. That beaverhad some much fat on it n the rib bones very large. By the time i got fat off i didn't have alot of meat. I was thinking bbq or stew. Instead i made jerky. Eveyone was afraid to try it. Used sweet n spicy seasoning. Once the 1st bite was taken it didn't last long. Made stew with antelope neck roast. That didn't last long either. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Most people won't try stuff if you tell then what it is. My 1st wife was into wild game. Not sure why her family didn't hunt. One time she made baked squirrel pot pie. Family came eat n talked about how good the chicken pot pie was. We left them eat. Later we told them it was squirrel. One ran for the bathroom n puked. Farm deer don't have the wild taste some mtn deer have. Many have no idea how to prepare wild game. πŸ‘πŸ‘

When my mother and father was still living they would come down to the house on Sunday for supper I would make baked steak out of deer steak of course mom would eat the first plate and go for a second plate and then turn and ask my wife at the time if that was beef or deer then she would start giving me hell. She always said she just couldn't eat Bambi lol

Smart move - that racoon was not normal. Worst part of that adventure was probably the clean up. I trust you finished your barley-pop first!

I was thinking the coon wanted the barley pop, and I wasn't about to share. So bang!!!!!
