Don't know about others but your words briefly put me from this desk
to sitting on the yak in my mind.
Reminds me of those school days gazing out the window with yada yada yada in the back ground. Then that dang eraser on the side of my head would bring me right back.
If I'm not mistaken, did you not state that you attended a parochial grade school ? You had nuns? Then you should identify/associate with the following -
Sixth grade - long, narrow classroom
with only four rows of eight desks each, facing long end of room with blackboard on right side of room !
English teacher (nun) is trying to
teach a lesson at the blackboard,
but has to repeatedly tell one
student (sitting 20 ft. away - first
seat/first row), to quiet down and
pay attention !
After giving the second warning without success (he's still yakking away), she turns abruptly, calls his name to get his attention and
throws the chalk eraser - it catches him right across the face, leaving
him with a set of yellow 'raccoon
eyes' ! Man, we laughed over that
shot for days afterward !
That 'girl' had quite the arm - not
really all that surprising, as I'm sure more than a few of them were fairly athletic in their school years (a
couple of them even played ball) ! They sure needed all the patience
and endurance they could muster
to deal with OUR crew !
(Think Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov and Aldo Ray movie -
"We're No Angels" !)
