I've used Mike's before Digger, sometimes a little slow, but usually have what I need.

I still have two Mitchell 701's that I bought in 1970, and they both still work. Haven't needed a replacement spring cause I close the bail manually. The only reason I don't use them as much any more is cause they are built like a tank and weigh the same amount. Being 75 years old I enjoy my ultra-light Shimano's. Seems like most customer service is a dying art these days.

Recently while fishing with my grandson he lost the tension knob on my accurist pt reel. I contacted quantum
(Zebco) and they advised me that the part was out of stock but if i returned the reel they would send me a new one free of charge. I sent them the reel five days ago and today I received a brand new reel. In todays world that is great customer service and treatment of a customer. Hats off to them from a grateful grandfather.

My thoughts on Quantum. A bunch of years I had a bunch of Shimano's and they were and are great reels that cast very well and had great drags. I also had two Quantums. These Quantums, I don't remember model numbers of both brands, but were all low profile. Those Quantums cast every bit as good if not better than the shimanos. Their problem at that time was their drags. The drags would not let the line out smoothly, it would grab then release a bunch of line then grab again when i was playing them from the bank as they ran back down stream. I am pretty sure they have changed the drag disc materials so that is no longer A problem, but I lost several nice Springers (Spring King Salmon) because I was only using 11lb leader.

I wish everyone offered that kind of service. Sad that few do. I’ve had, inexpensive, quantum reels that last for ever and perform well. Thumbs up to Zebco👍
