FourchonLa, that ox bow lake wouldn’t happen to be False River? My dad as a young man spent many hours fishing there. Before I was born and we moved to TX. Just wondering?
Yes it was. We had a place on the Island side between Ventress and Rougon. Caught many a fish there from the late sixties through the mid seventies.

Nice size for Fish Tacos! Thanks for Sharing!
My dad told of catching many also back in the’30. Glad he left some for you. He was born on a plantation out of Thibodaux, grew up in New Iberia, married and lived in Baton Rouge till we moved to TX. Always was a fisherman and taught me also. Was a fly man at heart but be came a salty when we settled in Houston. Tight lines and laissez le bon temps toilet!
Several things that could make a fish jump out of the water, some of which would turn them off the bite.
Now that’s more like it. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like nice weather down there.👍
