Are you sure you want to use a 1 ga. shotgun ? That is a punt gun, the bore of a # 1 is 1.669" and the kick from that thing requires the gun to be bolted to the boat.

I read several articles about eating Asian Carp. They all say the same thing, the fish tastes good. I've eaten the "Bottom Feeder" carp, and that one does not taste good, according to my tongue. The Asian eats plankton not what lays in the mud.

In addition, with a little practice I imagine I would be able to remove most/all the bones when filleting the fish. There is also a method where you cut between the Y bones, fry, then break the meat in two and pull out the bones. They are large bones, not those little nasty ones the get stuck in your mouth/throat.

I once watched South Vietnamese soldiers have great success with hand grenades.

Thank you for your service. One question. Was there anything left of the fish?😁😁😁

I am interested in trying my luck snagging Asian Carp. I am reasonably close to Peoria, Il and Lakes Ken and Barkley. Additional locations around Indiana/Illinois/Ky would be appreciated.

I have a boat and sonar and plan to locate the fish to reduce non-carp fish. I would fish from the bank, but do not wish to snag non-carp species.

I would appreciate advice on rods/reels and hooks/sinkers that can be used for snagging.

Hey dp . You need to participate in the redneck fishing derby they put on down in Bath Il. They say that it is a crazy fun time. I think it was cancelled last year because of covid-19 but it should be back on this summer with things opening up like they are. Have fun where ever you end up doing it.

what do you think would happen if you allowed guys in boats with shotguns to shoot fish that jump? Be sorta like skeet shooting live targets. A new olympic sport ?

Ya it can get a bit wild. Like was also said, you can put in at any of the Peoria area ports and idle around and get the Asians jumping out of the water
. Several years ago they held a bow hunt for Asian carp that was sponsored by our local building trades group and Bass Pro Shop. Big fund raiser for repairs to the local Labor hall. They even had cooks set up cooking up the catch of the day for anyone who wanted to eat it.

cant blame them....how many boaters are drinking at the same time, let alone be fishing too.Use your imagination on how it would be....YIKES!

People firing shotguns out of boats is what happens every fall along the Mississippi River flyway only they shoot at ducks and geese and it’s not a disaster.

Mike. Ya I suppose you have a point. However, I have never seen a flotilla of duck hunters motoring down the Illinois river, some pulling skiers, with loaded shotguns.
