D25... all my experience is with OMC outboards. It looks similar to your break down. No hose on 26, 29 is the piece that connects to 26 on one side and the pick up tube (OMC uses copper tubes). It can be a real pain in the ass to get the copper to fit the right way into 29 (can't see, no room, etc..). I have had new water pumps not working because I mucked up the pick up tube, several times! Just wanted to share what I learned from my mistakes. Get her fixed and get back to fishing! And take pics!

Fred....if you didn’t mention hoses and water intakes...this boat would be back at the shop for who knows how long...thank you man....i owe you..i dont know...something....
🤑😬
That's great Danger, I would let her run until the water gets warm. If you have an alarm, you may want to have it checked out when possible.

Gentlemen...with the help of a neighbor and a long piece of wire....i was able to seat everything properly.....i ask you...have you ever seen a more glorious piss stream!?can u hear angels singing?!....hot damn! She pissing like a teenager after sleeping 18 hours.
I cannot thank you guys enough....speaking as a staunch heterosexual...i love you all!😁😁
That's awesome man great news. Like Fred said let it run an check water temp. You might put it back in trash can an check motor temp with infrared thermometer.
I'm as happy to see that strong pee stream as if it were my own!
An overheat will generally stop an outboard by tightening the pistons in the cylinders, well before there's be any damage to the bearings. Now that it's running OK, the best case scenario is no harm done! The worst case scenario would be some loss of compression and piston slap. Piston slap is a metallic tapping sound at crankshaft speed, caused by pistons loose in the cylinders slapping first against one wall and then against the other wall of the cylinders. That could happen by the pistons having run really tight during an overheat. If you hear a metallic tapping that wasn't there before but it runs OK, it might mean that an eventual overhaul would happen somewhat sooner. If you don't hear any piston slap, a quick compression check will probably show it to still be good and give you peace of mind. Sometimes, you can screw up and still get away with it.
That impeller dosent look too bad. But certainly they are cheap enough to start there and replace. If it's sucking water...that water has to be going somewhere!

Whew...what a relief....when you guys stared mentioning hoses....i was looking all around for a “ hose” ....ive been a firefighter for 30 years....i know what a hose looks like...lol....and a 2 inch metal tube aint it.
I never wrenched on an outboard motor before and if it wasnt for you guys i would be on my way to the boat yard to have a mechanic charge me $500 for what you talked me thru.
Thank you.

Steve,i had no idea there was a metal “ tube” up inside the upper unit at all...until you guys mentioned an intake....then, like u said, trying to get all the parts lined up just right...sheesh...
Yahoo!!! You got it done,Danger. Sometimes it just takes a second pair of eyes 👀 to see what the problem is. You deserve a pat on the back just for taking on this challenge. Now take out the family and enjoy your new boat...🐟on

Thanks dozer....next week ....instead of taking her to a boat shop....ill be taking her to her slip in Cape May!
Whew.
Good deal. It’s just my opinion, but I really don’t think that you ran it long enough out of the water to do any internal damage. Especially if it was just idling. So when you do get it back in the water just pay attention to any odd sounds. But I think you should be ok...🐟on
