As a complete novice.....i was taking the boat out of the river onto the trailer....bunch of others waiting to retrieve...pulled onto trailer...and....you guessed it.....jumped into truck and pulled off the ramp with the motor still running......man, i slapped myself silly...but motor seized up ....came home put muffs on...cranked it over....no piss stream....figured i burned up the impeller...so i remove lower cowling...get to impeller and it looks fine...in fact it looks brand new...what else could be causing the motor to not be giving me that piss stream? I mean considering what dumb thing i did,,,,,,
How long did the motor run out of the water?
Could have something in the intake hose my .mercury will pick up little pebbles. I take hose off blow it out it is fine

Yes.....for a few minutes then stalls
I did it once myself. I only went about 30 yards out of the water before I noticed it, with no damage. If your motor seized up it wouldn't crank over. I also gota ask, how long was it running out of the water?

Did your high temperature alarm ever go off? It’s typically at the throttle and key location so you can hear it when you’re running.
Boil test your thermostat.

I’ve seen worse due to sand and debris being sucked in.

Did you remove the motor cowling with the muff on and the water running to see if it’s spraying out around the head?
