Fishing alone is great, but, I too enjoy having someone else with me. An experienced person that is, that you don't have to take care of all the time.

About ten years ago I started flipping my canoe. I had lousy balance and didn't want to put anyone in this position. All my life I fished from a canoe always standing up, fly casting. I fished early spring for Stiped Bass in quiet bays. In June - September fished for Largemouth Bass. The problem with my balance I needed surgery for my left foot/ankle had bone fusion surgery. I get into a canoe in standing up position (75 years old). So ten years ago I made stabilizers for my canoe which is a single person 12 ft. The stuff on the market $ 300. too much I made my own with four lobster pot buoys dimension 7" diameter x 14" long each. two on each side with 1/2 pvc electrical tubing cross piece 2 - 1" square aluminum channel I bought from Home Depot that goes on top of gunwale under I have two pieces of hard wood 1 inch thick fwd and aft 4- 5/16 x 2 1/2" cap screw secure channel to gunwale with 5/16" wing nuts. From the channel down on the ends of the channel 4- 5/16" Thread rod to the pvc secure with nylon nuts the length determined by the depth of Buoy resting on the water and top of Gunwale. I tell kids this is my training wheels. I can fish and not worry about tipping over or sinking. I now fish alone for Largemouth Bass - I carry the canoe in the back of my pickup truck. I check wind forecast and like to fish three hours before dark on quiet water. I cherish being alone - I take it all in the beauty of water, brush, lily pads and the sky and animals and LARGEMOUTH BASS. Added I get to reflect of all my deceased fishing partners.

I am reminded how blessed I am. Thank you God for what you created.

I also prefer fishing alone . . . no babysitting some clueless "wannabe" who has no equipment and abused or breaks mine, etc.

It's fun to have somebody to fish with but it seems to get harder and harder to coordinate with people. I LOVE to fish, catch anything or not so I definitely don't have a problem going alone.

My dad and I fished, hunt, camp, worked, church, we did it together! When he passed I took a couple of folks fishing and hunting, you start fishing or hunting and before you know it, I have a Doc appointment at 2pm, got to cash my check before 5. The list never stops. I stopped that crap. I hunt and fish by myself! Same has scuba diving in the ocean, when are we going back? So I dived by myself to 120’!! I have over a 100 dives by myself in my younger years! Just about 70, but don’t dive no mow. Try it, you will love it being out there by yourself watching the world go by! You get to Talk to God all you want! I do take my old dog 🐶 fishing!

Greetings friends. I have been fishing with and without people for several years now. But due to my age and feet problem I have started fishing with a partner (my wife). The other day I cought a nice five or six pound cat and had trouble removing the hook. By the time I did, I was down on my knees. I couldn’t get back up. I had to crawl in the mud to my truck before I could get back up. I let the cat go. I have been using a plastic bucket to set on. It collapsed. Now I am building a wooden stool with a swiveling seat. I will be 77 on my next birthday and I plan on having a better time fishing. Sitting alone gives me time to enjoy the other things that are going on around me.

Look at it this way, now you can lie about size, type and quantity of fish you”caught” - just between God and you!

I enjoy the solitude. Most of all to stand in a Brook or on a bank next to a lake... the sound of the Brook is calming and peaceful...or watching the mist slowly evaporate...stress disappears... nothing like it

I started fishing just so I can be alone.
I go on guys fishing trips from time to time to fish with other people.
I put my headphones, fish and decompress.
Its the best to be one with yourself.

I have to fish alone a lot of times, No one loves fishing like I do..at least not in my little world..sometimes the hubby goes, but since he does not enjoy fishing he will walk the dog or sit in the car and listen to his podcast. I prefer having someone with me. But I fish on a jetty that is pretty isolated, so being a woman...well I'd just rather someone come along..However I do not let it stop me, if no one is available..I'd rather fish alone than not fish at all.

I have been fishing with people as a social sport, but as my friends got less interested, my interested increased.

Problem is fishing alone just seems wrong. Does anybody else have this issue?

I've heard some people say fishing alone is their preference. I can enjoy the peace, but it's so much more boring.

I am blessed with a great fishing buddy who loves fishing even more than I do. We both appreciate nature, Eagles flying over head and the beauty of the lakes and rivers we go to.
I love saying. ...Fish on!!!
