Does anyone have any opinions on bass fishing the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes near Auburndale Fl.? Going to be at Madeira Beach in July and was thinking of getting a guide for a day of fishing with my grandson, or I am open for suggestions in other areas. Will bass fishing be any good that time of year?
I fish the chain a few times a week now. But have only been here a couple months. It seems to be pretty tough now. Isolated cover and weed beds are still producing fish. The recent heat will probably push them deeper by the time you are here.

You might want to try the kissummee chain of lakes, decent in July open water around the submerged artificial pillings
Thanks for the replies Larry and JCP, not sure I want to drive a hour and a half to two hrs. if fishing won't be that great most charters are $300 and over, have fished Tarpon lake before, would these other lakes be worth the extra drive?
I would ask your guide. They are on top of what and where. My opinion

JCP. Do you happen to know the guides name or what charter he's with? Thanks

Looking for any inshore fishing tips in central Florida. Heading to Homosassa next week. Wondering if fish are back in creeks or out in mangroves and flats. Thanks for any info.
I usually fish just south of there in Weeky Wachi
I HAVE FISHED HERE MY WHOLE LIFE.
IVE NOTICED THE MENHADEN ARE ABUNDANT AND BIG FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.
IN YEARS PAST THAT HAS BEEN A GOOD SIGN FOR FISHING THE REST OF THE SUMMER AND FALL
Anyone fish the Marco Island/Goodland back waters? Been here a week already and not having much luck. Tryong to find a good tarpon spot. Wife caught a 75lb Goliath grouper yesterday but we were about 10 miles offshore over a wreck

Recent relocation to Central Florida area. Hoping to find some fellow anglers to fish with. It's OK to solo a boat around Newnans or Orange, but more fun with others.
