Carp are fun Hack, put up a good fight and can make long runs. Caught this one last Thursday.
Ranger, do you keep them or throw them back? There’s a ton of them in a place called Buffalo Bayou near here. A lot of people fish for them, just not me. Thanks a lot.👋 Hack 🇺🇸🍺🍺

I just throw them back. Enjoy catching them, put up a good fight.
I looked on amazon and found method feeders and hair rigs, I'd never heard of either one. The method feeder I think I understand, but that hair rig looks kind of odd and the description mentions boilies plumbob also says they're meant to be used with boilies. OK. I could not find any information on boilies. What is a boilie?

Spirit go on You-Tube and type how to catch carp using boilies,, it will tell you more than you want to know. Me, never had luck with them , but I didn't try very hard.

Spirit i just googled fishing boilies. To much to copy and paste plenty of info there. One of the two guys i met this week was using it and the carp were hitting it like it was a buffet.
A boilie is a food for fish basically made from corn and flour but there many many variations of this. People add all sort of flavorings, jello and even garlic powder. Add water mix, then it can be put into a microwave or boiled (thus the name), rolled into little balls to fit the type of hook you are using and then frozen. Take them out of the freezer as your use them. Work very well for cat-fish or carp.
I fish specifically for carp quite often, so i’ve tried hair rigs a few times. Someone mentioned “boilies” like they fish in UK and EU in general and it works well. Boilies are boiled dough balls that are a harder bait so tgey stay on the rig. I like to fish a soft dough which does NOT work on these threaded rigs. I can’t cast them at all. The concept is very sound and effective if you use the correct bait.
No one addressed the issue of the hair rig? I know they work very well but don’t understand how they work. A friend of mine fished for Carp exclusively and that is all he uses and catches gigantic carp. He makes his own rigs and he may even sell them through Amazon. Salesrep
Lots of what is being discussed here is not a conventional hair rig. That set up is bait ball suspended below the hook on the “hair” (normally thick nylon braid with a crossmember on the end to hold the bait) so the fish ingests the bait ball down its throat while the hook remains in its mouth. Think of putting a hook on the end of your line with another small piece of line extending below the hook. This technique ensures the fish doesn’t swallow the hook so there’s no needless fish kill for what is a great fighting “trash fish” not many in our country eat. Just google hair rig pics if you can’t visualize by my description

Maybe I didn't give the boilies a long enough try but didn't really like them. I use a method feeder to pack the bait on then put dough bait on a treble hook and it works for me.
I don’t either. They only work in an area that has been well chummed. It’s line fishing with a fried hush puppy. I believe you’re better served to fish a soft bait that disintegrates and attracts fish.

Out where I live in Calif. you can't chum so I over pack the method lead and with a short leader put the hook in it.
