Any good spots near Surfside/Freeport area?
We are fishing the Sabine Pass area next weekend,5/7/21, any suggestions ?
Lake Sabine has always been an undiscovered fishing spot. Just Sayin...RJS
Heading to SPI early Thursday for a little “ happy birthday “ fishing trip. Going to wade fish , bay fish and try to go to the mouth of the Colorado to see what we can see. Now if the wind will behave....
Look for clear water, it’s been blowing for a week, more than normal, but starting to lay down a bit. Shad, mullet and shrimp seem to be growing pretty well too.
Marker 54 makes a good shrimp, tidal surge swim baits (shad) also and always gulp, chartreuse or pearl are good too.
Oops, not tidal surge, meant Tsunami! Sorry
Catfishing lake whitney.
Where to cast for shad

Thank you Mr Trajan. Are there any bait shops in Pt Arthur sell live shrimp

Thank you for the help. Good Luck ! Polk
Also “Luck in the Bucket” on Hwy 365 too.
Lake is +.32 over pool and surface temps are in the lower 70s. There has been some real sporadic weather in the last month with bad storms, rain, and wind. Fishing for the most part has still been pretty good. A few big ones were caught last week. With all the run-off, and two gates open for a few days now, they're trying to get the lake back down to full pool. There are fish in all stages right now. May should be a great fishing month this year. Start off with top waters, such as the Vixon and Duo Realis Pencil walking baits early and even staying with them a lot longer if there are clouds. The frog bite should be awesome with the newly flooded vegetation. Pretty much still staying shallow early then moving out to mid-depth post spawn hangouts a little later. Secondary and main lake points will be the focus on them. C-rigs, Texas rigs, and shorter c- rigs are the techniques to concentrate on. May is also a great crankbait and swimbait month in these types of places. There are also a few fish starting to move out a little deeper in post-spawn. More will move out there as the month rolls along. Paraphrased from Eddie Garrett (Lake Fork Guide)
