I believe Lake Nocona was finished up in the late 50's or early 60's. They say that it is the 4th best bass fishing lake in Texas, so I'm sure it would be worth the trip back to check it out. :)

This last weekend hubby caught a big-ol'-bass that was right at 10lbs and I pulled in a 9lb drum and a few catfish just big enough to keep for dinner. Good times.

Posting a photo of hubbs and his catch. Keep in mind, he is a giant at 6'6 so that bass may not look 10lbs in his giant maws but it was, truthfully, just over that mark. He was like a kid on Christmas. Lol.

It was indeed at Lake Nocona! We live nearby and fish there several times a week.

Whereabouts did you grow up? What part of the country do you call home now? We are new to the area and have fallen in love with it. The lake has nice swimming areas (as long as you beware the snakes), good fishing and spectacular views. It would be worth the visit back if you ever get the chance.

Tallgirl: I was born and raised at Bulcher, which is about 15 miles east of Lake Nocona, just over the county line in Cooke County. It was a busy oil field during WW II, but is now only home for the Red River Motor cycle race way that Rebecca Harris owns. I went to HS in Saint Jo.

I now live in Houston been here for over 30 years, but in August we are moving to Round Rock, near Austin to be close to our children and grand children. You may have seen some of my posts on Fishing Forum. Just Sayin...RJS

Thank you very much! I have a bit of a passion for photography and Lake Nocona makes a gorgeous backdrop. I don't know if there is a thread on beautiful photos of the lake but if there were, I could fill it up! I may or may not have even lost a fish or two trying to get juuuuust the right angle for a photo. 😂

I was just recently looking into getting a few of mine framed but hadn't decided which service or photos to go with. Do you recommend a specific company that you've used?

Although I haven't spent any time in Butcher, I absolutely adore the little downtown area in St. Joe. I love the small town community feel of it. Currently, many of it's storefronts are empty but they seem to be doing quite a bit of renovating so maybe they will return it to it's former glory someday soon!

Good luck with your move! I am sure your family will be happy and blessed to have you closer to them.

Beautiful picture, you do have an eye for settings.
I've used canvass champs in the past with good results, however, if your pic resolution is low, the image will not come out sharp when printed on canvass. Shipping is also a bit high IMO

Hello Tallgirl: Please excuse me for correcting your spelling. The town of Saint Jo, is not St, Joe, but as I wrote it. And the community where I grew up in the country is Bulcher. But since it is now a ghost town and hardly anyone lives there, I suppose it really doesn't matter.

I don't know if you read a recent post of mine about two young men from Saint Jo winning the State 4H fishing tourneament? I wonder if they didn't catch their bass in the Nocona Lake? Just Sayin...RJS
