Hi. I spent a year down there and I fished that lake pretty hard. The north end of the lake is the best for sure. And I’m not sure what your calling a small boat but be careful if it gets windy, I’ve never seen a lake get rough and stay rough like that one. My boat is a 19 foot skeeter and it got tossed around. The main issue is there’s very little shoreline, most of the lake has retaining walls, so the swells come in and are sent right back out. It’s dangerous. But there are some big fish in there. Good luck!!

Appreciate the Lake Nocona info, guys! I'm still fishing away and enjoying the process. Found a nice little spot on the NW side of the lake that brought us a few catfish, a couple small bass and a couple surprisingly large carp that thrilled my kids to death lol. Took me by surprise and almost ended up losing my pole to one of them. 😂

The waters are rough! For a small lake I have been surprised how big the "waves" get. Kids love to swim in them but it can make bank fishing a bit of a challenge.

Side note: we see snakes just about every time we go fishing. Cottonmouth and copperhead are plentiful here as well as other random water snakes. Be careful where you sit and watch your minnow buckets lol!

Great looking fish! One thing about Lake Nocona, it provides a beautiful background to show off what you catch! The sunrises and sunsets here are stunning. Thanks for the info and happy fishing!

I have been bragging on bass fishing in California. If you catch them this weekend you won’t even have to cook them as hot as it is out lol

Yes there are a lot of lakes but you need to check with Parks and Wildlife about the consumption bans a lot of lakes are too polluted to eat the fish

I am surprise about Lake Nocona. I was born and raised within perhaps 20 to 25 miles of this lake, but never knew anything about it, or fished it because I had moved away to college before it was built as far as I know. I agree it is a beautiful site. Just Sayin...RJS

Lake Nocona was begun in 1959 and filled in 1960. Considered one of the best bass lakes in Texas. Just Sayin...RJS
