They apparently like kernels of corn on a bare hook.
On day my brother and I were fishing and noticed a pod of carp swimming by. I put on a daredevil and cast across them a number of times. Hooked one in the back. Now that's a fight! They're not feeding when they are near the surface. They feed on the bottom. I caught one once using a rubber worm for bass. Thought I had a trophy

Kind of like a wrist mounted crossbow with a reel on it I made one years ago it worked really well until I shot a leopard shark with it and it destroyed the cheap little reel I used on it

Grouping and jumping typically indicate spawn is on. Good luck getting them to bite anything.

Wheaties, Vanilla, milk mixed in a dough. For a change mix in a little anis or honey flavored Jim Beam.
