If you Google vegan neighbor sues neighbor for bbq you'll see where they hosted a huge bbq when she lost the suit. Maybe you should invite all your friends with smokers to come have a smoking day.
To call the fire dept and whoever else before asking you neighborly like that it bothers them for some reason, negates any reason to be neighborly. Having said that, people today are nuts and in my experience, aggression always seems to escalate. You probably did the right thing even though it grated on you and everybody that read your post. No use going to jail or dying over smoked fish.
When I was in WA State I used a MasterCraft digital smoker for my salmon and it did very well. I left that smoker with the new residents who purchased the house and now I have a "Smokin' Tex" smoker. It is much bigger, I purchased it as I do a lot of sausage, tri-tip, etc. The MasterCraft was fairly inexpensive and the digital controls made it very easy to not screw up.
Well then tomuch it would seem this topic doesn’t apply to you because it is all about our not so nice neighbors

THE ONLY COMPLAINT MY NEIGHBOR EVER HAD ABOUT SMOKING FISH IS THAT THEY ARE TOO HARD TO GET LIT.
Reminds me of one of my favorite "Ray Troll" (the guy who did the "Spawn 'till you Die" poster) art T-shirts.
"If you must smoke.... please make it salmon"

One of my neighbors stormed over and actually pushed through my gate into my back yard and went into histerics about her house filling with smoke from my stick burner. I had one of my handguns in plain sight on a table.
She said "what, are you going to shoot me now?" I called the police and charged her with trespassing.
I can now hear her slamming windows everytime I use the smoker. Police showed up 3-4 times after that incident upon her request and told her to be a better neighbor.
A week later, both my US flag & Navy flag were ripped from their mounts on my front stoop.
I love my neighbor!

Wait ! WHA-A-A-AT ? Besides the obvious charges of trespassing and destruction/theft of private property, isn't there some rule of law pertaining to the mis-handling and/or dis-respectful handling of an American flag that they could charge her with ?
Too bad you didn't have one of those doorbell phone security systems, or some other photo-security set-up to
nail her with in court !
Luckily for her, she's not MY
neighbor - if all legal recourse failed, there would be the distinct probability of some form of retaliation, legal or otherwise ! Messing with my property is bad enough, but messing with my FLAG demands some kind of serious punishment !
