Hard to believe that mini wouldn’t give a Huey problems when it was firing unless they’re weren’t any grunts on board. I think in that pic it’s being used from the aft of a chit hook. IMHO

I expect it would. That is why I said we used 60's like in M60. Even a fifty with its slow rate of fire would still likely tear the ship apart and the noise kill our cargo even if their wounds didn't. The C model Huey gun ships did have mini guns fix mounted, but the crew still fired 60's. Any further comments in this conversion and we best move out of the fishing forum. We are getting side tracked.

I've never fished Trinity but I've done a lot of catfishing in California. During the day they like deep holes and cover. They come out in the evening to feed. My favorite bait was always fresh cut mackerel, which might be hard for you to find. Chicken livers work well. I take a pair of my wife's panty hose or nylons and cut patches, make a bag to put the livers in, wrap it up with magic thread - keeps the livers on the hook better. I'm not a big fan of bottom fishing - I like to suspend it under a float and let it drift. Light it up at night and you can keep an eye on it. Good luck. And post some photos.

Are there any anglers that fish for catfish in Trinity Lake? I’m very interested in where to fish and what bait to use.I have a Hurricane 196 boat, so location isn’t really too much of a problem. Thanks, Silversail

Hey SS. You should PM Mitchfish. He just moved to Texas but he use to fish Trinity a lot.

Thanks I will use the chicken livers... I won’t tell my chickens though, they might quit laying. Trinity Lake is a nice lake; however, California state government will not let the water stay at a descent level. Don’t get me started...

I know what you mean Silversail. I live in Redding and I watch Whiskeytown Lake every year drop its 11’ and stay there only because they are taking the water from Trinity Lake. I have fished Trinity before but not for Catfish.

Yup, Fishing Cowboy, California does not give a sh$t about NorCal residents, it’s our water they want. By mid summer you cannot launch at any of the descent launch ramps... that were built and maintained with taxpayer dollars. Trinity Lake is beautiful and has lots to offer. Too bad it’s not maintained for recreation... by maintained, I mean keeping water levels to where it’s usable.
